Tell me. How do you burp?

Please please please share your techniques.

I do the over the shoulder as it yields the most consistent results, but it takes a long time or doesn't happen. And he's still gassy. Gripe water helps but I need to figure this out so I can make him comfortable.

I rub upwards on back while baby is on my shoulder. She is ebf so doesn't burp much but this technique has yeilded more burps than patting.

I sit him up and hold his chin while patting his back. He's usually asleep and this doesn't even wake him but it seems to work the best for us.

I just tried the sitting up and I got a burp. I will keep at it today and hope for the best!

We do a mixture of sitting and over the shoulder. No usually do over the shoulder first if it doesn't work than I try burping her in a sitting position. A few times I put her over my knees and rubbed her back and a got a few good burps that way.

On the Lap patting and rubbing back or hold his head and roll him forward and back side to side while seated

gets the best burp we are ebf so I only need to get out one burp and he's good to go

Same here. For some reason he burps faster after the first boob though. If he takes from the other boob I can hardly get him to burp.

@mary97‌ Usually half way through and at the end.

At night he nurses so fast it's usually at the end if he burps. So which contributes to the problem.

Sitting up hunched over a bit, chin and cheeks supported, with the heel of my hand pressing lightly against her belly while I pat her back. If I don't get a good burp in 30 seconds or so, I lean her all the way back for a second, then go back up into sitting up and start patting again. I try it twice, and if that fails, I do two rotations of the joystick move, one in each direction, then start patting again. Rarely does it get that far, though.

Neither of my kids have been easy over-the-shoulder burpers.

ETA: DD is EBF but must suck a lot of air. She gives me at least two huge frat boy burps per feed.

I get better results when she is in the sitting position. We do both over the shoulder and sitting.

I prop my legs on the ottoman so my knees are in the air, bent. Then I put the baby on his tummy on my upper legs facing away from me and I whack him on the back. I have to be pretty firm. Bonus is this counts as tummy time!

Basically any and all techniques. DD isn't much of a burper but gets gassy which then makes her fussy. Fwiw, I've had way more luck with gas drops instead of gripe water - that did nothing for DDs gas.
