Sorry for being so MIA and taking so long to post this. I'm still adjusting to motherhood.
I'm sorry the long version is so long.
Short story: Henry Joel was born on May 21st at 12:40PM. He weighed 6lbs 14.7oz and was 19.75 inches long.
Long Story: I ended up going on a long walk on May 19th (5 miles!!) to encourage the little guy to make an appearance. I was scheduled for an appointment on the 22nd to discuss induction due to high BP. Well, at around 6:30pm on May 20th I felt a bunch of pressure and that Henry was so low it felt like he was going to fall out. So naturally I decided to go take a look in the mirror, I hadn't seen that general area in months so why not right? I don't know what I expected to see it's not like id see him popping out a hand for a quick wave haha. Well as soon as I went upstairs I grabbed the mirror and looked at DH, I couldn't lift my leg up for some reason. As soon as I tried a huge gush of bright red blood came out all over the floor. Enter freak out! As I tried to move the bright red blood continued to come out. This did not seem normal for my water breaking so I had my DH run grab the Doppler and the number for the doctor to leave a message. We decided to jump in the car and head to L&D while we waited for a call back.
The doctor called as we were pulling in and said we did the right thing by going in and to head on up. When I got in the room they did a quick cervix check and I was only 1.5cm and I was only having mild cramping. The doctor thinks all the blood from my water breaking was related to my previous placenta previa (which was now low lying) and all was fine and to not stress. She did want me to start piticon ASAP to get things moving since the 24 hour clock had started and instructed the nurse to go ahead and start along with an epi. Well 2 1/2 hours later and the nurse had done neither. The contractions started on their own and were clustered. I would have 3 short ones in a row followed by a very long 2 min one. I was miserable. I asked the nurse again for the epi and they finally got that started at 10pm along with the piticon.
Hallelujah for epidurals!! Roll around to 4am and I was only 3cm, are you serious?!? By 7am though I was finally 10cm!! The doctor came in and asked if I felt the need to push yet and I didn't so she said to try to rest up a bit and she would check back. At 9am I still wasn't feeling the need to push but said let's get the party started and I would try to push. I wanted to meet this little guy! Well after expecting to push for an hour tops it was 12:30pm (3 1/2 freaking hours!) of nonstop pushing and no baby. The nurse decided to call the doctor and recommend using a vacuum. As the doctor came in I guess I got a burst of energy and made progress pushing that it was officially go time! (No vacuum needed) After 5 minutes of pushing with the doctor Henry made his entrance to the world screaming and immediately pooping on the doc

It was love at first sight!! Well this is where it starts getting scary! I had a 2nd degree tear so the doc stitched that up. I was able to feel everything at this point, not sure why. As the nurses attempt to get the placenta out there doesn't seem to be progress. The doctor decided to try to manually remove. Holy shit talk about pain. She was able to pull pieces of the placenta out after 4 seperate attemps. She was not able to get all out and I still had a large amount of retained placenta. I start bleeding more and more and they made the decision to send me in for an emergency D&C to have it removed. I was swept away for surgery leaving my boy with DH. As I was being prepped for surgery I started hemorrhaging and bleeding out, everyone starts freaking out because the doctor is not there yet and they start throwing out the words of "making it" pretty sure I started to freak out and they immediately gave me the twilight sleep stuff because Next thing I know I'm waking up in the recovery room.
I get sent back to my room for 2 blood transfusions but I finally got to see my sweet boy so at this point getting some blood is nothing.
It was not a pretty birth story but it could have been worse and I would do it again!! Henry was healthy and I couldn't ask for any more.
If you stuck through this novel! Thank you!
And now... Meet Henry Joel
