How many of you have your infant in a child care that uses baby sign language?

How do you feel about this? Do you sign at home as well? At what age did you notice baby signing? Share your story with me. My baby is 7 months we are just starting with signing. Any tips?

Not in daycare but we use sign language at home.
We did it with DD1 and found it helpful for communication. Also doing it with DD2.
Advice: Keep doing it. It will take weeks-months before your child may sign back, but you should keep it up. They can understand long before they can sign themselves.
Try to notice what words/actions you use most often and look those up. There are some great resources online, including ones with video demos.
If you get more serious about it, you can get a sign language dictionary and keep it handy for quick reference for words you'd like to know.
Use a standardized form of sign language like ASL, as opposed to a made-up form that caters to baby movements. Babies/kids get better with time and ASL can be easily learned by multiple caregivers.

Keep in mind that some signs involve intricate finger/hand shapes. Baby will be able to sign using an easy shape (flat hand, fist) before having dexterity to sign more accurately. So if you're referencing an ASL dictionary, you can either modify the shape to something baby can manage, or you can use the actual shape (so baby has the context and exposure) but in that case, expect baby to make the movement without matching the shape at first. Signs including Mom, Dad, Food/eat, Milk, More will be easy starters. Good luck and have fun!
