Potty Training

Potty Training Question. STM.

Hello.

I am scheduled to have LO #2 tomorrow but I am inquiring about potty training LO #1. She's three years old, shows interest in the potty but because I knew number 2 would be here soon, I really didn't start the whole process. Well not that it is summer break (I'm a teacher) and LO #2 will be here very soon, I was wondering what are the signs after LO #2 is born that LO#1 will be ok with that transition and ready to start potty training? I dont' want to start too soon after he's born, but I don't want to wait to long until school starts in August.

Thanks

When my first was 14 months old he was showing clear signs of being ready but like you we wanted to wait until the baby came.  Our 2nd was born when DS was 16 months old so we just waited a month and PT him then.  It was super easy (especially since a 1 month old sleeps the majority of the time) and he loved the idea that now that he was PT he was no longer a baby like his sister and of course people who visited gave him tons of praise!  Although looking back, I see no reason why we couldn't have done it prior to the birth, it really worked out doing it while on maternity leave.
