Some of you might remember my post awhile back asking for advice about what to do with DD while DH and I attended a work conference in San Diego. To recap, I couldn't decide whether to leave her at home (and exhaust our baby sitter credits), try to bribe a friend or family member to come along, or hire a nanny locally. Ultimately, the only option that really made the most sense was for us to hire someone locally, and I'm thrilled to say everything worked out WAY better than i could have even hoped or imagined! *phew -- huge sigh of relief*
I used care.com and managed to find someone who (coincidentally) went to high school nearby but moved to San Diego with her family after graduation and now attends USD for college. She was amazing. AMAZING! So sweet, totally reliable, and went out of her way to find fun things to do with DD during the day. We needed some late nights and long hours, all of which she managed with ease. We were so happy and knowing DD was in good hands allowed us both to do the work we need to do and enjoy our conference without worry. I actually got a little teary when we said goodbye to her!
Also, we managed to upgrade to a suite for less than $40 a night which meant we had a living room and kitchenette (and the two of them had a place to hang out in the evening other than on our bed!).
There is no real point to this post. I just wanted to AW a little and let you know that the whole week was a HUGE success! And also, if any of you San Diego moms need a nanny/babysitter recommendation, hit me up!
Here are some of the pics she sent us during the week. Aisling was deft having way more fun than us! (sorry can't resize!)
