Comfort nursing, HAH!

I've noticed an increase in comfort nursing since my dd figured out she can crawl over, tap my chest and she will get to nurse. And by comfort nursing I mean pulling my hair, pinching my chest, kicking me, and trying to pull my face off while suckling and hardly moving any milk. What a sweetie.

  • I feel you! My DD tries to karate kick me in the face while she's nursing now.

Wow, my DS is positively polite by comparison. He fidgets somewhat and puts his fingers in my mouth, but that's it.

  • It seemed like once my son learned the sign for milk and figured out he could ask for it we added a few sessions. We have backed back down and are now to only in am and bedtime. But he is a silly nurser and loves to touch (poke) my eyes, touch my eye lashes and eye brows, move my head back and forth to see both ears, and (most annoying) pull the hair between my boobs!! HA! I seriously have two hairs that i call my chest hair that is like 1/8 of an inch longer and somehow he sees it (even in the dark) and picks at it! Ugh! He also loves to fling his foot up to my face and put it on my mouth...I kiss it and he laughs like it is the funniest thing ever! He is so so silly but I love it!

  • I'm right there with you. The trying to remove my moles thing is getting real old. And I swear his nursing has doubled since he learned to sign. It it's funny though when he sees me get out of the shower/change my shirt/etc. He'll smile, climb into the bed, lay down and sign for milk.

Yep. Since I've returned to work E and I have had back to back colds. She has wanted to nurse all night for the last 3 weeks. And when the snot's really bad she's on and off the boob a zillion times per session because she can't breathe.

Ha! This. Nursing used to be so calm now I get smacked in the face the entire time.

LOL. Mine learned to sign milk and then realized it meant she could nurse whenever she wanted. I think this age was the peak of nursing for my other girls too. I think it has to do with them making the transition from being babies to being more independent. They just need to make sure mom is always there for comfort.

She's the only one of mine who has practiced nursing gymnastics. I have a new understanding of and appreciation for the term. I think she'd be happiest if she could take my breast off my body and carry it around with her.

  • Pretty funny reading these, and they will all be fond memories some day... Or ways to embarrass our children. My daughter also does what I call "stop, pop and roll". She stops, pops off the boob, and attempts to roll off my lap so she can go about her business.

  • I am pretty lucky with DS nursing behavior, he became too distracted to nurse anywhere but in his room in the dark before naps and bedtime back around 7 months, so now we are down to nursing really early in the morning before I leave for work (more of a dream feed) and right before bed, so he is calm.

YET I always know when he is ready for a nap or bedtime since he starts yanking my shirt down and (as my DH calls it) "motor boating" me.  Very polite behavior in mixed company.
