did power pumping help?

Help! LO has been BF for almost 10.5 months and it has been great. The last 2 weeks we have been moving to a new house so I asked for day off at work thus I was directly BF. The problem is that LO was passing through a phase in which BF was not much fun so he was BF not as often, that plus the lack of sleep and drinking enough water affected my supply A LOT.

Today I went back to the office and pumped... I got less than half an oz. I was thinking of power pumping, do you think it will help?

Any success stories at this point (10 months) for bringing supply up? I am torn... this is so important for me... I can already see that he doesn't get enough milk during the night... in the morning when I used to have more I am completely dry! :'(

Sorry if this got posted before, I just wanted to see if anyone could recover from this, or if this is the end :(

Re: did power pumping help?

  • I did a power pump session around 10 am and I got 3 oz. after 1 hour (on and off every 10 min)... better than nothing :)

I am doing the second session of the day now, haven't gotten a drop in 10 minutes... this is so frustrating...

  • I'm glad that you posted this, I feel like I'm in a similar situation. LO is almost 10 months and I have noticed a supply dip with the pump due to stress at work, and not enough water or calories. I'm working on fixing all of that! :) My LO seems fine though when he BFs, but I've got to find a way to get my pumping output back up so I just might try power pumping this weekend...

My LO is also 10 months and I just can't quite keep up with her.  I had a stash in the freezer but we have pretty well gone through that.  I need to ask day care how much milk she is getting every day now (they have a frozen stash there) I'm not sure what to do as far as supplementing if I can't keep up, do we start having day care supplement 1/2 formula with her bottles?? We planned on nursing for at least a year I'm hoping we can make it these last two months...we're so close!!!

I noticed I was losing ounces and power pumped over Memorial Day weekend (3 days in a row).  It absolutely made a difference and I'm glad I did it.
