WWF14D - Teacher Gift Edition

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer here, but I thought I'd see what you all have to say anyway.

DS is in preschool 2 days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. In his classroom, there is a classroom teacher, 2 assistants, a Tuesday specialist, and a Thursday specialist. I'm trying to decide what to do for end of the year gifts. His two assistants have been there all year. His classroom teacher was there all year until last week, when she had a baby. There is a sub who took over for her. She's been there for one month. DS does not even know her name. The specialists mostly work with kids on IEPs. When I asked DS if he knows Miss Tuesday, he said no, but he does know Miss Thursday.

Who do I buy end of the year gifts for? I'm pretty sure the correct answer is "all of them", even though the sub has been there such a a short time and DS doesn't even know all of them. Go ahead and tell me to suck it up and buy five gifts ;)

Re: WWF14D - Teacher Gift Edition

  • Could you do something small (like a $5-10 Dunkins GC) for the little known teachers and the sub and something bigger for the other teachers.

We had a parent order us pizza one year for teacher appreciation. It was the year I was in pre-k. There were 4 adults in the room and her son got speech, OT, and PT. So he saw a lot of adults. Instead of getting something for each individual person, she ordered a few pizzas and had them delivered around lunch time. She then sent in a thank you card to all of us. Could you do something like this? It could be bringing in something for breakfast (bagels, muffins). Then it is something for all the adults in the room and your not leaving anyone out without spending a ton of money.
I actually just did this for teacher appreciation week :) I brought in bagels for everyone. But then I forgot that the end of the year is coming, haha!

  • I received a cute teacher end of the year gift from one of my kids. It was a $5 gift card to a frozen yogurt place with a cutesy card (printed at home) that read "Thank you "fro-yo" hard work this year!" It was a very cute idea that wouldn't cost a whole lot.
Lots of cute ideas like this on pinterest. I always loved a heartfelt card from the parent. If you're giving a gift, a GC is always a good idea. Starbucks, froyo, target
Gotta love Pinterest :) I think I'm going to get clay pots and flowers and have DS help me plant the flowers, then attach a card that says "Thanks for helping me grow this year!" I think that should be inexpensive enough to do it for all of them and maybe a little more personal than a gift card (though as a teacher myself, I am never opposed to getting a gift card :) )

  • ^A kid did that for me last year. I killed it the day I got it because I left it in the car at the end of the year party. Dh still gives me hell about it. I kill all the flowers.
