Green poop?

Just changed my LO's diaper and his poop used to be seedy yellow and this time it was green. I looked it up and the internet said it could be a sign he isn't getting the hind milk. He is breast fed but I do give him a bottle of formula every night so I can pump and start saving for work. Is this from the formula? He has been gassy all day and was grunting like crazy trying to go. I know this is only a 1 time thing (so far) but is this normal? I feed on one side only until he is finished.

Re: Green poop?

  • I've had a couple green poops then it goes back. Keep an eye for the next one and check out the colour.

I think the imbalance makes it foamy and it's more than one poop if I remember correctly.

  • Ah could be the forumla. Sorry didn't read it all I guess.
  • It's probably the formula. Pretty much any amount of formula makes the BF poop color charts invalid. Formula causes funky textures and colors. You can get green, gray, brown color and creamy, gooey, or even sandy texture. And it's rarely consistent. As long as it's not full of mucus or tinged with blood and LO is acting fine it's probably normal.

I supplement 14 oz a day of formula and we still get the yellow seedy poop. If it stays green and is frothy then it could be a hind milk imbalance.
  • My DD was EFF and she had green watery stool and was lactoce intolerant
  • How do I make sure he gets the hind milk? I already only feed from one side until he is done. Usually 10-15 minutes
