Third-Party Reproduction

Intro!

I'm excited it's time to intro over here! Maybe a little premature because we are starting the donor egg paper work/process the end of next month/early august but I'm excited :) I typically post on infertility vets page and all my info is in my siggy but since we'll be using donor eggs I wanted to come here too and learn everything I could. I looked around this board a little bit but was curious if anyone used or uses shady groves shared risk (not all inclusive just regular) 1:3 shared program? We would love to do shared 1:2 but with all the money we've already spent we basically can only afford the shared risk 1:3. I'm nervous about having enough eggs (especially since we have male factor as well) BUT like I said it's pretty much the only option we have. I can't wait to learn everything about the process of DE, it feels great to start a new plan. Thanks ladies

Hello and welcome! Yay for getting started! I did a shared 1:2 cycle and got 12 eggs so I'm not of any help and we stayed local. There are a handful of ladies who are very knowledgeable in this whole DE process who will chime in I'm sure :)

    Good luck to you.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

Hi and welcome! (Saw your post on IFV, too.)
We went through SG and had a very good experience. We did a few psych consults along the way, and they were helpful. Actually our one at SG was kind of awkward because my DH was having some sort of allergic reaction that day and somewhat anxious at the time anyway (much better now ;) ) so he was really nervous in the consult appt. and I thought maybe they would "not pass us" but it really wasn't like that at all. We just talked about how we felt about TPR, disclosure, etc., to make sure we had processed that stuff through.
We were in the 1:2 shared risk (not all inclusive program). It turned out to be a great option for us. One reason we chose that program is that we were also in the Shared Help program (discount program for people with incomes under a certain amount - we qualified for a big discount because it's based on the past 2 years, and my DH had been in school and I had been doing an internship, so our income was really low the year before we cycled). At the time, Shared Help did not apply to the all-inclusive program (I think it might now), so we chose the regular shared risk and then chose 1:2 since (because of the discount) it wasn't as much more as it would have been.
One thing to think about is that they put the donors with the potential for the highest number of eggs (or proven history of producing a lot of eggs) in the 1:3 program since of course they don't want to have to cancel people for lack of eggs, so they want the really high-producing donors in the 1:3. So that makes it a good option. I think they cancel the third recipient if there is not more than 5 for each recipient.
We chose 1:2 because of the discount like I mentioned, because we also had MFI like you said, and also just to try to maximize our chances of frozen embryos for siblings. We were not successful on our first cycle because we ended up having much more severe MFI than we had thought, so we used DS for the second cycle of our 6 and that was our successful one. For that one, we ended up with one to transfer and two to freeze. Our son is from our first FET (so we have one embryo left).
I wish you all the best, and keep coming back with questions!

Thanks for your story! Unfortunately shared help still doesn't apply to the all inclusive :(. We did get a small discount bc I was in school two years ago. We have to pay an additional 5K each cycle it doesn't work so FX it only takes one...although obviously we know it doesn't always work that way!
