NCDR: About the K'tan...

1) If you are going to call the K'tan breeze a warm weather carrier that keeps you cool and has some mesh for breathability, why the heck is it black? What about a nice cool beige or light grey that doesn't absorb the beaming sun?

2) How the heck do you get the baby out? I've basically been sitting down and letting her down into my lap through the bottom. But that doesn't seem right.

3) I got a small based on their size suggestions, and the recommendation to size down not up if you are between sizes. It fits perfectly now and LO is snug and secure as can be. But... How is this possibly going to fit when she's any bigger?

Please help!

They say it stretches. But LO is so tight against my chest that she had the seams from my t shirt imprinted on her cheek after a 5 minute walk. Seems tight.

  • You won't want to use it for long as baby gets bigger tbh. I know my baby is a monster but he's already to big for it. It will stretch as you use it. I thought the breeze came in ither colors, too. I just pull him out the top or take the loops off my shoulders and then he's out. I'm laughing at the thought of kind of pooping the baby out the bottom of the carrier, though.

    1) I think black is the only color because that color hides pit and sweat stains the best

    2) I remember just making sure I sat down and then undid one arm, then was able to lift M out.

    3) as P gains weight, her weight will help loosen the fabric a little bit. I agree with ten R's Rachel-I did not think the k'tan was comfortable once M was about 14-15 pounds. My shoulders would KILL

    And....helped!

  • Five r's. Sheesh. Ten would be excessive.

  • I second what Meesh said about getting baby out. I would just slide one loop off my shoulder and lift him out, basically repeating the how I got him into it but in reverse.

The black definitely isn't cool in the sun, but I didn't want the white one. I feel like I have seen it in a plum color since then, but I'm not sure.

You can finagle a little more stretch out of it based on where you put the knit vs the mesh. I used mine until DS was about 13-15 pounds, and I never had trouble getting him to fit in it. Like Meesh said, it just gets hard on the shoulders after that. But I went with a medium b/c I wasn't sure where my PP weight would fall and I am rather large chested.

  • Yeah, the black is lame.

I always reversed the putting-in process... Slide off the shoulder on "top," then pop him out.

It will totally stretch with her. Also... I actually used mine until G was at least 1. I wouldn't wear him for long periods of time like that, but I kept it in the car and used it for things like running into the post office. I also used it with the sling-style hip-carry just a couple months ago.
