Anyone running/jogging in this group?

I'm 29 weeks, it is definitely getting tougher to run/jog now and curious what your experience has been and if you have any tips to make runs easier?

Re: Anyone running/jogging in this group?

  • The board has a health/fitness check in on Thursdays. There are lots of runners/joggers in the check in who will have lots of tips! You could also peruse old check-ins, as there are lots of good pointers in there.

To answer your question here, yes I was running up until last week (fell and broke my foot, and subsequently had surgery). I was wearing a gabriella support belt (on amazon) but I also was going to PT and doing hip/pubis exercises to help keep everything in alignment. Most ladies in our check in had moved to walk/jog intervals and found those really helpful at keeping us out there!  Many of us were also transitioning to long walks, swimming, and other exercise methods as we were entering the third tri. Good luck :)

laurelcharles - Good idea to run on a treadmill since going to the bathroom so often poses a problem when running outside!

RunningJ- Thanks for the information I will check it out, I just found it.  I didn't know that board was there so appreciate the comment!  No fun breaking your foot, bad timing!!
  • Me! We also have a running group that posts on the Health and Exercise board, so check that out :)
I'm running about 25 mpw but it's getting harder.  I have a Gabriella support band which helps a little with the round ligament pain, but it still happens (sadface). I'm also taking walk breaks -- 30 seconds to 1 minute every 1/2 mile. I've definitely slowed way down but I'm sure that running (at any pace!) will help make the return back to marathoning (and hopefully a BQ!) a little easier :)

  • What PPs have said - I've been gradually decreasing my speed (every 3 weeks or so I drop down another notch), and so far I've been able to run the same distance but slower using that method. My goal is to run to 36 weeks (eek!) and then power walk, but I will play it by ear.

  • Just this morning on my run I realized that I may have to move my runs to the treadmill.  Between it getting warm & humid and my need to go to the bathroom quite a bit, it is making more sense. Today I ran my tail off on my way home because I had to go to the bathroom so badly =)

    My TTC Journey:

IVF #2 with PGS - Stims started 10/28 with retrieval on 11/11.  Of 14 mature eggs, 10 fertilized, 4 made it to Day 5 & 1 made it to Day 6. We did PGS on the Day 5 embryos, and 3 of 4 were normal. Had ET on 11/17. Beta #1 (8dp6dt): 203. Beta #2 (10dp6dt): 618. We since had two ultrasounds & on 12/19, our RE released us to the OB.  On 1/02/14, we had our first ultrasound with the OB where we heard the heartbeat.  We are so thankful for the blessing & crossing every finger & toe for a healthy & successful pregnancy.
