Quick question

Anyone going to carb load ready for labour?. I'm naturally craving carbs at the moment anyway, so naturally thought about carb loading, after all labour is a marathon not a sprint. :-)

I'd just eat normally.  Then again I've puked in both of my previous labors so eating big amounts in advance doesn't appeal ;)

I didn't love tit cause you puked, but because I did, too!

  • I'm planning on eatting a meal before I go to L&D but definitely not just carb loading.  I also plan on stopping at a Subway or something and grabbing a sub to throw in a fridge at the hospital, just in case I deliver in the middle of the night.

  • I carb load everyday because I love them :). When I go into labor, I will eat whatever I can because last time I didn't and was so exhausted by the end it was nuts.

  • I'm just trying to maintain the weight I'm at right now and not put on any more. So hard because sweets are calling my name day and night! I just asked DH to make me French toast! And of course I feel bigger everyday. Ready for baby to make his entrance!
  • I couldn't eat anything when I went into labor, that was part of how I knew I was in "real" labor. I ate breakfast that morning and didn't feel like eat anything until the next morning after I delivered. I had plenty of energy due to the adrenaline rush!

With my first one I was not able to eat anything before I went into labor. I tried but nothing looked good so I will try to eat but I don't think it will happen.

  • I could not eat when I was in labor, not even early labor. The thought of putting food in my mouth just made my stomach turn. We did have a spaghetti dinner the night I went into labor so I could have carb loaded if I wasn't feeling so yucky.

  • I was the same when I was in active labour, but in the days running up I only had small meals mostly pasta, cous cous or rice. The last lo I had I didn't eat much at all and got really tired quick so I'm going to try little and often again. :-)
  • My midwife suggested easily
Digestible foods. Honey sticks, dried fruits, crackers, etc. I plan in keeping something light in my stomach if I can throughout labor. More focused on staying hydrated.

  • With my first I wasn't allowed to eat the whole time I was in labor at the hospital (24 hours) though I definitely cheated here and there.  I was starving!  This time I'm definitely getting something on the way to the hospital before they can tell me no.  I was just thinking about how late/early the donut shop opens...  I don't have a sweet tooth when I'm not pregnant, and have a crazy one when I am, so I figure the final day I'd better enjoy it :)

  • I couldn't eat before I went to the hospital. I knew I needed to but just couldn't. I ate dinner at 6pm the day before and went to hospital at 530am and delivered at 630pm. I def had a big ole chicken fried steak after delivery though. I really wasn't hungry throughout the day.

  • @sumochik‌ I am deathly afraid of puking during surgery! I'm not even planning or scheduled to have a csection, I'm just afraid of feeling like ass the whole time. What do they have you do to get sick just turn your head? Everyone I talk to tells me to eat before going to the hospital and I totally saw Taco Bell in my near future- not after reading these responses.....
