Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Does your 2 mo old like toys?

My baby has no interest in any toys, vibrating chair, swing, rattles, playmat, anything. She just wants to interact with me. We play talk to each other, smile and stick ours tongues out at each other. Is it normal to show NO interest in toys at this age?

  • I hope it is normal.  DS has just started showing interest in his playmat and bouncer chair in the past week.  He much rather stare at my face, lights, and pictures on the wall.

  • That's pretty much how DS was - they're still learning to be social!  It's their most important skill - don't worry about the toys yet.  She'll get around to them.

  • Yes! I read in some book they should be reaching for toys/playing with toys at 6weeks. It freaked me out so I asked other moms and they said "no way, too young."

  • My DS likes his activity mat for about 15 mins at a time.  Then he wants my attention.  He LOVES the swing, but not so much for "play", more for napping.  Doesn't like the bouncy chair so much...

  • The only thing DD has noticed is the dragonfly toy on her bouncer seat.  Other than that, she does not notice any toys at all.  She pretty much just interacts with us.
  • same thing with my DD, now she is intrested in anything and every thing.  today she lunged for my coffee.crystals as i was trying to make a cup.
