Home Birthing and "Coming Home Outfits"

To all of you who have had or are going to have a home birth, or to anyone else who wants to chime on: Di you do any kind of special first outfit? Obviously with home birth the baby is already home so naked is there outfit, but a few of my friends recently had babies in the hospital and I did think taking special picture in a cute little outfit was sweet.

Is not having this just small sacrifice I have to make? Have any of you found a creative at home version of this idea?

Just curious :)

    I had two hospital births and didn't have a special 'coming home outfit' obviously the baby had to wear something.  I just had them wear a comfortable cotton sleeper.  Do what you want, no big deal either way :)

    With a home birth you have the option of doing a cute outfit whenever it feels right to you.  I usually do one when the grandparents come to visit.

    Our special tradition is each child is wrapped and sleeps the first night in my baby blanket its the only time we use it. Also when we do newborn pictures all my children (boy & girls) wore my coming home outfit when I was born.

    I have had 3 HB and have never done a special outfit. Frankly, we do lots of skin-to-skin. So baby is often just in a diaper to facilitate that.

    Ditto pp. If you want that moment (I don't, and don't understand why it's so important to people, but to each their own), just pick an outfit. Then put it on LO when you have the chance to snap a few photos. It doesn't really matter whether it's the first, second, or third day (or even a week later)!

    With most hospital births the "coming home" is days after birth. With home birth you have the luxury of doing it whenever you feel like it.

    Thanks all, it isn't a big deal and I plan on doing a lot of skin to skin as well. I was just curious if anyone out there had a sweet tradition along these lines.
