birthday present for 2 year old

My son is turning 2 in a few weeks and I'm not sure what to get him. Any ideas??

    My nephew just turned 2 and I got him a wooden train set. Other ideas: Sandbox, water table, slide, kitchen, tool bench, blocks, puzzles, balance bike, trucks.

    A tricycle?  It is a little early for one, but he'll grow into it.  Also you can get one where you can also push them.

    DS got a push trike for his second birthday, and that was a great gift. DH wants to get DD a balance bike for her birthday.
    DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

    DS just had his birthday and we got him several things... a Mr Potato Head, a Little People's barn (he loves LP), one of those harness/leash backpacks, and potty training stuff. He got clothes and pjs from grandparents and aunts/uncles. He also got a wagon from one of his uncles and I would say that was his favorite present. We have it right in our living room right now and he gets in and out of it all day long and occasionally asks for a ride. It was the perfect present.

    my DS is 21 months. we're not sure what we're getting him for his 2nd birthday, but these are some of his current favorites that i would highly recommend:

    fisher price basketball hoop (little tikes also makes a very similar one)

    little tikes pillow racer (prices are inflated on amazon- i've been seeing them in tj maxx and marshall's lately for $19.99)

    radio flyer wagon

    little tikes t ball set

    books: elephant and piggie series by mo willems (these are actually beginning readers but are hilarious and fun to read out loud); peck peck peck by lucy cousins, plus any book with maisy in it, by same author; trucks go, trains go, and diggers go by steve light (boardbooks), the three bears, my car, and my bus by byron barton

    art supplies: washable markers, washable crayons, washable finger paint, washable watercolors, stickers of any kind, sidewalk chalk

    I am second-ing the Piggie and elephant books and a line by the same author "pigeon" aka don't let the pigeon drive the bus, pigeon needs a bath....

    DD is about to turn 2. We got her a tricycle. She's obsessed with our neighbors and can ride it-- so we got her one! We live close to the park so I'll be able to walk up and let her ride it.

    Other ideas-- puzzles, books, coloring books and art supplies, legos, blocks, train set?

    We just went to a 2nd bday party for a child who has a million toys.  We gave him a basket full of different art/craft supplies.  Toddlers can never have too many of those =)
