Breech baby at 34...

So I had a follow up ultrasound today and baby moved from being head down at my Anatomy scan (20 weeks) to being head up today (34 weeks exactly) he was measuring at 35 weeks and 3 days. Does anyone have any luck with the home stretches to get the baby to flip?? I'm a little worried bc I really don't wanna have a c section if at all possible. And dr was talking about stripping membranes etc and start inducing at 38 weeks...
If you have any advice or input on what I can do to get him to flip I would greatly appreciate it!! So far I googled to use a cold pack at the top to try and get the baby to move away from the cold and a tilt where my knees are on the bed and my hands on the ground.. Thank you!

  • I'm not asking for a diagnosis by any means but I've also been having a weird ache and pain in my crotch. Hard to explain but almost like I worked out and it's sore.. It's not an itch or shooting pain but just the whole vag seems to hurt?? I was hoping it was bc baby was head down and it was pressure from him but then found out today he's head up :( lol

  • I've been doing two of the Spinning Babies exercises from the website. There is an inversion one and a breech tilt. I haven't been doing them every day like they suggest, but I have an OB appointment on Monday and she will see if she is still breech, so if she is at that point I will do the exercises religiously and I will probably look into scheduling an Appt with a Chiropractor certified in the Webster technique. My new insurance just upped my "specialist" copay quite a bit, so I'll have to debate the coat vs percentage of the time it is successful.

If after that she is still breech, I'm going to take that as a sign that she is just in the position she needs to be and try to remind myself of that as much as I can.

I started seeing a chiropractor, certified in the Webster technique, this week to help baby get head down. Head has been securely on the right since 20 weeks. I had my first adjustment on Wednesday and, by Thursday, baby's head was on the left.

As of today, I've lost the baby's head. I can't feel it on my right or left, so who knows! My next adjustment is tomorrow, then I have a NST on Monday, which will locate the noggin, so we will see!
  • Im 31 week and my ob said that if im still breech she will do the external technique. Which makes me nervous.

@ 35 weeks and my LO was transverse this entire pregnancy until Wed when the midwife checked me and we are finally head down. I used the same "Techniques" tundrabunny used....Spinning babies moves for breech babies and the stability ball. Also had some chiro adjustments and spent a lot of time on my hands and knees doing a 'cat / cow' stretch. You can get that LO turned!!! I am still doing some of the stretches to help keep this kid in the right position....don't give up!

PS I had tons of extra "pressure" or soreness while the baby was transverse because they were sitting on my pelvis in a odd way - by not being head down - including soar groin muscles, hips, and just overall...hopefully you'll feel better soon
  • Was your doctor talking about there not being enough room for the baby to flip in the next 4 weeks and/or saying that they thought you had a higher risk for a c-section??

I thought babies do their own acrobatics and flips until about 36w when they try to move into position... so that's still a couple weeks away?
  • I actually didn't even see my dr, it was just the ultrasound tech, but I'm 34 and he's measuring almost 36, and they say ince past 36 it's a lot harder for them to flip so I was going off of his size not my gestation. The spinning baby website it what I was looking at last night and tried a couple of them. I don't have a plank board or stairs so I put my knees on the couch and my hands on the floor and did it a couple times for like a minute each. I guess I will try and keep doing it everyday! I also tried the ice pack up top to try and get him to move away from the cold and go head down.. First NST apt is next Friday so my fingers are crossed!! Thank you for the help ladies!! It's much appreciated!! Glad I'm not alone in this!!
  • My baby is still breech right now. I have tried techniques for the Spinning babies website as well. The only other thing that I have heard to try to help the baby flip is holding a flashlight down by your pubic bone.

  • I would also suggest going to see a chiropractor who is familiar with the Webster method. I recently started going to my chiropractor again, and it has done wonders.

  • There's still hope! DS was still breech at my 37 week ultrasound, and I never did any exercises to move him because I was having an RCS. As it turns out, he flipped all by himself and was head down at RCS time (39 weeks). Sometimes they just leave it 'til the last minute :-)

With my DD she was breech at 34 but by the time we delivered at 35.5, she was head down. I wouldn't worry until you hit about 36.
