Sorry it's taken me forever to get this posted, life has been beyond chaotic, as I'm sure many of you realize. So here's my story. May 17th I woke up around 5 am drenched in sweat, it was SO hot in our bedroom! Then I felt like I was sweating in my crotch, and realized my water may have broken. I got up to go to the bathroom to check and had a small gush. I was stunned. I woke my husband up, expecting a shocked reaction and all I got was, "Oh, ok. What do I need to do?" LOL He was so calm! I jumped in the shower while he was getting all our stuff together, and we got to the hospital around 6 am. They confirmed that my water had broken (duh!) and kept me in triage for a few hours to see if I was going to start dilating. I wasn't, and the OB said it was because I had adhesions in my cervix from previous procedures on my cervix. She tried to break them up manually (OUCH!!!) and it didn't work. So we waited until I got my epidural that afternoon and she broke them after that. I went from 1/2 cm dilated to 5 cm in about an hour but then stalled a little, so I was started on Pitocin, and continued to dilate. Around 7:30 that night, the MFM came to check me and said I was 8 cm and it would probably be another 2 hours before I was 10 cm. 20 minutes later, I told my husband to call the nurse because either a. the epidural was no longer working, or b. I was 10 cm and needed to push. The resident finally came back in around 8:15, said I was 10 cm and got ahold of the MFM. I was wheeled to the OR around 8:45 pm, started pushing at 8:50 pm, and Abigail arrived at 9:07 pm. I kept telling my husband, "I can't do that again!!", but the nurse told me it was time to push again. Ugh! Hannah followed quickly after, arriving at 9:13 pm and the placenta came out at 9:15 pm. After a loooooong day, the delivery was not as bad as I expected (one of the nurses told me pushing could take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours for a FTM!!!) and we were back in our room by 9:45 pm. Abigail was 5 lbs 6 oz, 18 in. and Hannah was 4 lbs 11 oz and 17 3/4 in. :x
