I just recently found out there are regional variations in "American Chinese food" (meaning the greasy take out that bears little to no resemblance to how people actually eat in China). I'm trying to enter my dinner into MFP and don't know which option to choose because I don't know which type matches what we call it around here. Since we're from all over, I figured... poll F14!
So, what say ye re: chow mein?

Poll: Chicken Chow Mein (NBR, Obvs!) 41 votes
Chicken and veggies in a cornstarch based sauce, served with a wax bag of crispy fried thin stick noodles
21%9 votes
Chicken and veggies in a soy based sauce over pan fried noodles in the same container
So upon further investigation (ie, Google... yes, I'm trying to avoid doing anything meaningful at work today), it looks like what we call "chow mein" here in MA (the first option in the poll) is called "chop suey" elsewhere, and the difference is being served with those crispy noodles vs over rice. Is that accurate?
