is there a 16 or 17 month sleep regression? LOL

i guess we've been spoiled for a while since the twins (when not sick or teething) are pretty good sleepers at night. They share a room, go to bed at 7 or 7:15 and usually are awake between 5:45 or 6am. Works for me.

Lately they've been waking up crying in the night. With DS I'm fairly sure he's getting his 2nd molars in (according to my dad who is a dentist and the pedi). He's chewing on fingers a lot, drooling, and very clingy. So I can handle it for a bit. But it's been a couple weeks already! I'm just wondering when it's going to let up..and with DD, I don't think her issue is teeth at all. Again I could be wrong. But they are waking around 10:30 or 11, but go to sleep on me when I pull them from their cribs. This leads me to believe it's just a bad habit? I have such a guilty conscience going back to bed letting them cry. WWYD? DH and I are going away for a weekend in two weeks and IL's are staying over at our house. I would obviously love for them to be well behaved but know I can't predict their behavior. However how are you moms dealing with your LO's sleeping issues at this age? Thanks!

How long do they stay awake if you don't intervene? E went through a phase of waking up around 11 every night. But she would fuss for 5 minutes them go back to sleep. So I let her be, and she quit doing it after a while.

I was told nightmares begin around this age. H will be 15 months on Saturday and he's been waking at night and he's not teething. I haven't looked anything up about it though to know for sure.

One of my boys always does this (and takes awful naps) when he is working on top teeth. Six weeks of hellacious sleeping and, bam...top canines popped last week. But, I almost think there were some nightmares in there too. Just the way he'd scream at night made me think he was terrified of something.

I didn't really do anything but wait it out, so I don't have any advice. But, I hope it corrects itself soon!!

I think we are in the same boat. The last week she has been up at night, and it's always in the middle of my best sleep. DH and I are think possible nightmares too because she is crying like she is frightened.

DS (18 months) is a good sleeper in general but wakes up at least once a night for a few minutes. He can settle himself back to sleep without me going in. Now, if he was sharing a room with a sibling, that would make it more difficult- are they waking each other up?

DS's teeth take an ABSURDLY long time to come in. Like, a couple of months from the time the gums start to swell to the time the tooth appears. Fuuuun times.

I think yes. A has been waking up twice a night for the last month. She was sick at first and I think she might have developed a bad habit of us going in to rock her back to sleep. We are going to have to start sleep training again. Boo... I despise sleep training but hopefully it will just take one night to get her back on track.
