Odd question

I'm not really sure how to describe what I am feeling so bare with me as I try to make sense. I have been having a serious pain/pressure when I pee and lots of pressure in my tailbone/butt area. It's also seeming difficult to pee. I am not asking to be diagnosed of course but have any of you ladies experienced this. I was thinking that maybe the baby is super low causing this. I don't remember this with my first. I have a doc appt Tuesday and plan to bring it up but in the mean time was wondering if anyone else has this. The pain/pressure is enough for me to cringe. (I'm about 31 weeks)

It's not so odd - I'm 31 weeks and just about there too. Sometimes I have to wait a second or three before my pee starts. And I have to sit in certain positions to alleviate the pressure/pain in my crotch area. I think it is just the position of the baby...If it is really bothering you I would call your doctor for peace of mind, but i think it is just the way of it.

Edit - peace of mind. Words are hard right now.

I'm having similar pains but I know for sure that I'm dilating and effacing, and baby girl is engaged. I'm also 35 weeks along, though. It's possible that your body is just getting ready, but as you acknowledged we couldn't tell you what your specific situation is.

Are you contracting at all? It does kind of sound like baby is getting low, from where you're describing the pressure. But I'm sure your baby could also be hanging out there until your due date despite that.

Crazy countdown time has us all questioning every sensation!
  • I would get tested for a UTI asap.  It could be normal pain and pressure but you won't know until you test.

I am contracting especially when I am up running around. They never create a pattern so I figure I'm fine. I know with my first I was dialated to a 3 and 80% effaced before labor began. I keep thinking that maybe my body and baby is just getting ready. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
  • Thank you all. I will defiantly get tested for a uti just to make sure. I'm hoping baby is just loading up.
  • I'm having that same pressure pain, but didn't have it with my first. It started around 31 weeks and asked at my appointment 2 weeks ago. Doc confirmed baby is just laying really low and is causing the pain and pressure I'm feeling. Like PPs said it could be a UTI or baby being low, if you are really worried I would call tomorrow if you think it can wait then ask at your next appointment.

  • I agree with pps that you should get tested for a bladder infection or uti just to be safe! However, I'm having the same issue (I'm 32w) and at my ultrasound yesterday she was snuggled head down, super low! So that explained it for me. I have to lean way forward or in different directions to pee sometimes. I'm sure I look crazy leaning all over the toilet but luckily nobody but my cats see that

  • I feel pressure but only when I wake up first thing and my bladder is super full. Id get it checked just in case of infection.

I've had the same thing for a couple weeks now. I thought it was just normal pressure of the baby since he is head down, but when I went into the hospital on Tuesday for contractions, (yet again), they told me I have a slight UTI, which may be responsible for some of the pressure and contractions. It doesn't hurt to go in and get it checked. I wouldn't wait until Tuesday just in case it is a UTI.

  • me too. second bladder infection in 3 weeks. back on the antibiotics!
  • I've had the same pain, and my doc recently told me I have a UTI. Started taking antibiotics 2 days ago, and I'm starting to feel better. Definitely go in to be checked out and let us know! I hope you feel better soon!
