AW/SS: bronchitis while pregnant?

Anyone ever dealt with bronchitis late in pregnancy? I'm 31+2. Started coming down with something on Sunday night. Been doing as much as I can to bring myself relief. I woke up this morning, and my lungs are super tight and it's hard to catch a good breath (hard enough, with a baby all up in my lung space.) I know bronchitis is usually viral and you just have to wait it out. But I'm a little more concerned this time around, being pregnant and all.

With DD, I had bronchitis 4-5 times while pregnant. Once as late as about 33 weeks. I would take antibiotics and my inhaler. It got bad enough they also gave me steroids but again, I had it so many times it was bad. Try to stay propped up as much as you can and REST, a lot!

Yeah, I'm resting and drinking hot tea to try to thin out the mucus. I have to work tonight, but only a 6 hour shift. And really, I can sit on a chair behind the service desk if I need to.

And I'm "self diagnosing" bronchitis...just because I get it multiple times a year. I know exactly how it feels and how it presents in me. Maybe I'll call my doc. I had a nasty sinus infection at about 8 weeks, and his nurse called in antibiotics without even seeing me. Said it was clear just my listening to me that I was very sick.

  • I just got antibiotics for a sinus infection on Tuesday.  I had been trying to wait it out but it was killing me.

  • Yes, maybe 3 weeks ago? Doc diagnosed as either bronchitis or sinus infection and have me antibiotics. I waited on going in for about three weeks, hoping it would clear up.

  • I had bronchitis over Christmas that turned into pneumonia.  I had to get antibiotics to finally clear it up.  And an inhaler.  I hope you feel better soon!

I'm dealing with this exact thing. I really had myself worked up the other day because I was wheezing loudly when laying down. It's gotten a little better but if it's not better by next week, I'm going to the doctor. This is week 2 of this crap and while I normally wouldn't be concerned, being pregnant has my anxiety sky rocketing so better safe than sorry.

I agree!! I called my docs nurse and she told me mucinex is safe to take. She said if it lasts another 7 days, give them another call, and they'll check me out to make sure it's not too bad. Unless I start coughing up green stuff (which I am, yuck! But it's "loose"...so she said to push fluids and mucinex.) hopefully it'll run it's course over the weekend

Good to know about the Mucinex! Hopefully we both kick this soon!

I just got over it too.  Went to the doctor who prescribed an antibiotic along with plain robitussin and saline drops.  I just got tired of not being able to sleep; it's not like we have it easy to begin with, right?

Because of the antibiotics, I did get a yeast infection though, so stay on top of that if you're prescribed anything.

Hope you all feel better soon!
