Does anyone else work night shift? I am a RPSGT(Sleep Technologist) and work 7p-7a WTF and Im just wondering if anyone else who has already had a baby or is pregnant has any advice for working nights and being pregnant?
I'm an RN. We do 12 hr shifts and I flip flop nights and days every six weeks. It hasn't been too bad. I just highly recommend bringing lots of snacks and eating frequently to fight the nausea.
I'm an RN on nights too (7p-7a). It does make my nausea happen all the time but I've been trying to eat smaller more frequent meals. And I'm way more exhausted than normal!
Another RN here, 11pm-7:30am. No advice as this is my 1st pregnancy. So far it hasn't been too bad but I'll take any advice I can get for when it (most likely) gets rough.
RN as well! I'm flipping to nights next week so I'll let you know although I will say a lot of the girls I work with who have been pregnant prefer the nights. I think it's because it's slower, and they have more time to drink water/snack, etc. I work on a super busy unit so that may be why
I am a RN who works on call, currently covering for someone on maternity leave. I recommend eating snacks and drinking lots of water to help keep energy levels up. I also sip tea towards the beginning of the shift because the caffeine is low, but still helpful. Also, if it's possible, try and take a nap.

I'm an RN and the night shift was one of the reasons I quit my previous job. The hours were causing so much stress not helping us conceive. I work afternoons now, which I like better. I don't know how I would be dealing with working nights while preggo. I'd say take lots of healthy snacks and try not to overdo yourself.

I rotate between days and nights, and I just got off of nights. Like people said, be sure to bring lots of snacks and drink plenty of water! I split a cup of coffee into two servings, one at the beginning of my shift and one at about 0100, and that worked pretty well for me. I hate nights, but I will say that this exhaustion has made it much easier for me to sleep during the day!
I agree....It has made day sleeping so much easier!!
