Backstory: On Tuesday when I picked up the boys from DC one of the other kids had had an accident. There was not a change of clothes for the poor girl because the mom had not replaced them so our DC provider had her in her underwear and her t-shirt. The kids were playing for about 10 minutes before the girl's mother picked her up. The mom lost her shit and proceeded to pull her daughter out of DC completely because of the incident. She felt it was promoting sex and that any parents that were okay with that had poor morals and values and she didn't want to expose her child to that kind of behavior.
So now I'm second guessing myself. Is she over reacting? Or am I too lenient about these kind of things? My first thought was that the kids had no idea that it was a big deal at all (DS2 is the oldest at almost 3.5). My second thought was that it was the mothers fault for not having a change of clothes. What do you think? Would you have a problem with this?
Re: Is this a big deal?
Mom to Lily and Colin!
If you're looking at a CHILD and seeing something sexual, the issue is you.
And anyway, an adult woman standing around in her underwear isn't promoting or asking for sex either.
DS has at times come home in daycare clothes. We wash and send them back. That mom is crazy.
FFS, a girls bathing suit covers less than a tshirt/undies and no one is freaking out at the beach. I doubt the kids even cared.
I do feel sorry for that little girl though.
Maybe DC already gave out the extra pairs of stuff they had that fit her? While it's nice that DCs have those things if/when they do, it's really not their job to have clothes for the kids. This lady had no business blaming them for her lack of preparation.
And ITA the idea that sex is the first place her mind went really speaks volumes about her.

It actually worries me for the child. I've known people who were like that when I was growing up. Their kids just did not do well socially as they were always freaked out about their parents reactions for the most ridiculous things.

I didn't mean to make that sound as if I was placing blame on the DC, and if op was there during the scene I understand how she found out then
Yeah, I'm sad for the poor girl. She has a looooong life of living up to really wierd expectations.
