Problems with "leakage" even after six months

I want to get back into running so bad but as soon as I get into a jogging pace I leak a lot and no matter how many kegal exercises I do it doesn't seem to improve. My baby is six months old and I attempted my first 5k race the other day and wet myself to the point you could actually see it (how embarrassing) is there anything besides kegal excercises I could do to prevent the leakage?

I would recommend seeing your doctor. In the meantime you could wear a pad or pantiliner
Yup, specifically a urogynecologist. They're a subspecialist of urology who can help you with treatment for pelvic floor muscle issue which are causing the incontinence.
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

  • I don't run.. but sometimes when I sneeze or ride my horse I wet myself.

No advice but I feel your pain!
  • I just read an article about this on yahoo's homepage. According to the article (I did not fact check it) you need to fix the pelvic floor muscles before working on your other muscles and the incontinence can be fixed. I had thought it was just a consequence of motherhood. I guess we won't be peeing when we laugh for the rest of our lives if we do the exercises.
  • No advice but I'm definitely in the weak bladder camp. I don't wet myself often but I have learned that if I need to go, I cannot wait. I need to take care of it ASAP or I have a problem. ;) Good luck!

  • It's nice to know I'm not alone, thanks ladies! I just wish there was something I could do to fix it so I can workout again!
  • Thanks for posting. I was supposed to call and make an appointment today. I full on pee myself at least three times a week, usually when exercising. It suuuuuucks! From what I hear it runs in my family. Many of my aunt had to have surgery to put things back together. Looks like that's the future for me.
