In this week's episode of "Why I am a bad parent".. UPDATED PIP

edited May 2014 in December 2014 Moms
My son requested a mohawk, dyed teal since he is out of school and they cant wear colored hair to school.

Needless to say, he's currently playing Minecraft with a bag over his head waiting on the teal to set.

Your turn.

Sorry, not sorry about my grass. New lawnmower part is being delivered this afternoon.

I let my two year old eat a chocolate muffin for breakfast. Let's be real, it is pretty much a cupcake without frosting.
And both kids are still in pajamas at 11am. My 10 month old may or may not be cruising around sans pants as well.
  • Child services is going to be busy today :P

Good thing I cleaned the house last night, haha.

Here in the bible belt, this will get me a lot of side eyes and even a few remarks, no doubt.
  • You all sound like awesome parents.  You give a little, you get a little.  The early bedtimes balance out with the "treats" of staying in your PJs all day or having a chocolate muffin.
  • Love it! My son will also have his summer hawk when school is out.

Bad parenting moment ( more funny to me)
DD: mom, what's the difference between sunscreen and sunblock?

Me: nothing at all! it's like calling a butt a booty, same thing just a different word.

( thinking that through after I said it, totally could have used another analogy)

I am so glad I live in a big city. I see kids with Mohawks all over. Plus I have read that dying your hair helps keep the devil out...
I live in a big city! I am a mile from Atlanta city limits. Just that the people here are "You need Jesus" :(
  • Makes you an awesome parent in my book. I'm also a heathen so, my judgement might not be the best.

  • I love it! I let my 21 month old watch the entirety of frozen so I could work.

If that is what you consider a bad parent moment I don't know what the hell I am then. My kid navigates Netflix so I can be on my laptop or take a nap.

    on a regular basis.

I mentioned at work that my kids get to pick whatever shows they want and someone actually said to me "sounds like somebody's kids are spoiled. "

Yesterday my 3 year old didn't have clean underwear, all in the laundry lazy me hasn't done yet, so I put on her swimsuit bottoms.
I'm not even nominated or in the running anymore, just an interested spectator :)
  • kayhold - The hair is awesome.  Mine always went for blue or a red mohawk!

I have made my son turns his inside out once or twice, lol
  • Great parent! Good work! Got to pick your battles, and something that superficial won't be harmful at all. Very cool parenting move!

  • Haha im a FTM so no bad parenting stories from me yet....but I would like to point out that I think its hilarious you are all talking about giving your kids Mohawks and I just gave my husband one last night because he wanted one lol. He totally followed it up by asking me if I thought he was too old for a hawk to which I replied hell no! Hahah
  • You're an amazing mom!! I love this! I think it's silly you can't have colored hair in school though. His hair looks so good!! I hope he is able to enjoy this as long as possible!! I had hot pink hair for about 3 years combined and LOVED it!

Awesome Mohawk!!! It's summer and who cares.

My moment was last night. My 8 yr old DD came down stairs and caught me scarfing down a big bowl of ice cream. BUSTED. So naturally she starts hinting about wanting ice cream and blah blah blah. I tell her she can have two scoops if she does 10 burpees. My kid has no coordination what so ever. But she was down cuz well...Ice cream duh. DH showed her what a burpee looks like and she knocked all 10 out and it was probably one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

I feel like I feed my kid nothing but hot dogs, mac and cheese and grapes... He gets multivitamins so it balances out? He throws everything else... or puts it in his hair... Pick your battles, right?

*It isn't really ALL he eats, but it sure does make a frequent appearance here so it feels that way!*
My kid refuses to eat salmon or quinoa. Those nights which are about 2x a week, he has a can of Chef Boyardee.
If we're having a main dish he likes, though he will just skip the quinoa and double up on the veggies so I am thankful for that.
  • i allowed my child to eat a whole sweet potato and cup of peas, followed by a small organic yogurt smoothie for dinner on Tues cause that's what she wanted...how can you say no when your 2yr old ASKS for PEAS?!
