I've read that it could cause miscarriage but other sources say it's safe.

Never heard that, but pretty sure that it isn't accurate.

It is part of the core that may be of concern if consumed in large quantities. Like 8 cores at a time. Moderate consumption will not affect you.

Are you putting the pineapple in an inappropriate place? If not... Enjoy it. People have lived for thousands of years without Dr.'s telling them what to eat. I imagine folks in third world countries eat way differently then us.. And make healthy babies every day :) Drink your coffee. Eat your fruit (a far healthier choice than I ever made!!!) and take your bubble bath.

I'm confused as why they wouldn't be safe.

It all depends on where you stick it.

Supposedly it can induce labor.  If that was actually true women wouldn't go 10+ days past their EDD if simply eating pineapple was the answer.

Pineapple releases an enzyme that is a prostaglandin (just like sperm) which helps to soften the cervix. That's why some women think eating it or drinking the juice will help move their labor along, but as pp said it's primarily in the core and you literally have to consume like 8 fresh pineapples for it to have any effect.

Foods do not cause miscarriage, period.

The fruit is perfectly fine. What is used later during third trimester as a natural attempt to jump start labor (I'm talking 39 weeks and later) is the pineapple core. Big difference. The fruit that the general public consumes is fine.

Also, the pineapple core has to be ingested by the truck load to have any effect in helping labor along. So, unless you are consuming obscene amounts of the entire fruit then you are fine.

I ate a lot of pineapple and sperm during pregnancy. My anecdotal evidence is that both are safe.
Not together tho, right? Because ew.
I told people the glaze on the pineapple dessert was a secret recipe made from scratch!

    (kidding btw)
