Intro/question

Hi all! I'm just 5 weeks today with an EDD of 01/28/15. I don't have a family doctor and there for was told to self refer to an obgyn. I did this but don't have my first appointment until July 3 (10 weeks) and this is only with the nurse. My appointment with the doctor will not be until 12 weeks. Is this uncommon? When is/was your first appointment?

Re: Intro/question

  • Welcome and congrats! I can't speak from personal experience because I was w/a specialist last pg and my OB this time but I've heard your story from other friends.

  • For spontaneous pregnancies (those without the help of a fertility specialist, which will keep ties on their patients until they reach a certain week in their pregnancies), will not be seen (typically) until weeks 8-10 to try and get a dating ultrasound. You may or may not get your OB for this appointment. That is normal.

That's pretty common for someone with no prior issues. Good luck!
