The Good, The Bad, and the Gakky (why I've been MIA)

Hi Ladies:

I've been "radio silent" for a little over a week, so I thought I'd post a quick update.

The Good: I had my NT scan last week and everything went really well. The baby had a NT measurement of 1.7 and our high risk MFM just kept saying "beautiful, beautiful!" so I took that to be a good sign. I also had the bloodwork for the MaterniT21 test that day too.

The Bad: Immediately thereafter, I caught a horrible viral thing from my mother-in-law, which gave me the worst case of acute bronchitis I've ever had, and I had some whoppers. Breathing was a struggle in and of itself, and I was coughing up things that defied description. I was in bed, in quarantine, for 5 days, praying that my husband and son didn't catch it. Low-grade fevers persisted until Day 4. At first, the doctor thought it was the flu, but I got "lucky" with just bronchitis. My mother in law, and the other three people I know how had this still feel pretty miserable. Apparently it takes weeks to get back to normal. All I know is, being short of breath is terrifying, and I'm happy that it is slowly starting to resolve. I went to my cardiologist to have an echocardiogram, which fortunately came back normal. Hopefully, the shortness of breath will also get better, or I have to go back for a chest x-ray. Prayers that this will not be needed. I can say this: wash your hands a ton, and stay away from sick people. Nobody, especially a pregnant woman, wants this crap!

More Good: Yesterday, my MaterniT21 test results came back--everything was negative and we're having another BOY!

Super Good: Today I had another ultrasound, basically a "You were really sick, let's check on the baby" ultrasound, and he looked great. Measuring ahead at 13 weeks 3 days, with a heart rate of 162. I was so relieved. Here's a pic of the little man. He is either waving hello, or it appears that there is a weird alien face in there with him (I prefer the "waving" idea).

I have been reading posts, and hope all is well with everybody. TGIF!!!!

  • Glad you are improving. I hate bronchitis. And congrats on a healthy little brother you're growing!

Also, I always think this but don't say it, I love your screen name. Or whatever it's called. :) I'm pretty existential in how I view life and believe that we are all in the "processing of becoming".
  • Glad you are feeling better! Congrats on Team Blue!

  • Thanks all! This is an old thread, but I am fine now (of course, my son caught a viral thing and strep throat since I posted this, but he is finally on the mend after much rest and amoxicillin).

In the latest news, my Oby's office just called and the results of my AFP testing were all negative. Another hurdle cleared. And today I'm 17 weeks. Which is pretty astounding. Now, we just need a good A/S, and I need to not get preeclampsia and make it to the end of this pregnancy with bells on!!!

@BeckyP005, thank you so much for checking in--this means a lot to me! I lurk on TTC>35 all the time and know that your next transfer is coming up. I have you in my thoughts and prayers that this is the cycle for you, and you get your miracle. You're a constant source of support for so many ladies, it is time for us to celebrate YOU!!! I will be thinking many good thoughts for you (and stalking you on TTC>35!)
