How much is your newborn eating during the day vs. night?

My daughter is 17 days old and we've been feeding her about 2 oz. every 2 hours during the day and about 2.5 oz every 3 hours at night. For the last day or two, she seems like she could eat more than the 2 oz. that we give her during the day but I don't want to overfeed her. We are doing a combination of pumped milk and formula. Should we be feeding her more? We don't have our 2 week check up until tomorrow afternoon and the last time we checked she was not back at her birth weight yet. Help?

My son is 19 days an he is up to 3.25 oz every 3-4 hours...sometimes more frequent during day. He has done a few 5 hour stretches at night.
  • Sounds like you are doing well. My pediatrician started us out with 2oz every two hrs & said we should aim to get up to 26 oz in a 24 hr period by 8 weeks. My LO was not up to birth weight until 3 weeks, but is doing well now with this schedule. I would start trying to give her more than 2oz and just see how it goes.
