Lady, Treat Yo Self GTKY

Just a thought, with the recent posts regarding OAD NBC, let's focus on some adult ladyin'! (Refer to Treat Yo Self if you need clarification)

What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink?

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do?

How about one HOUR?

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer?

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on?

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any?

Re: Lady, Treat Yo Self GTKY

  • What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink? Honestly, starbucks frappucinos. Fine, I'm fat. I'm ok with it.

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do? Get in the car, go far away. Kidding! Sort of… Get a giant frappucino (see above), go to the mall and buy.all.the.things. Get a mani/pedi followed by a massage, followed by a haircut. Eat at a fancy restaurant with my BFF and finish the day sipping chardonnay at a trendy bar, preferably outside on the patio.

How about one HOUR? Frappucino and mani/pedi.

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer? I'd like to walk every day. I really like early morning walks with DD and the dog, before 8am and the heat.

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on? We will be getting two rooms painted and cleaning out and organizing the basement, which may not be fun to most, but I am obsessed with organizing and really looking forward to it!

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any? I don't love it so I stick with planters, we have landscapers for the rest! I do love annuals in planters, though and I usually am good with a few herbs and tomato plants on the deck.

  • My summer go to drink - a Moscow Mule.....google it! It's Delish.

My alone day would be a slice of heaven on earth; it would start with sleeping in, but not so late that I would feel like I lost my day.....then I would get an iced coffee and hang out in bed for a while, watching TV and catching up on blogs etc. from there I would go sit in the sun for a bit an read, before heading to the spa for a hot stone message and pedicure. I'd then stop and grab my favorite to go meal (baked rigatoni).....come home and eat it with a big glass of delicious red wine. And finish the night by spending time on my deck and killing that bottle of wine. This would all be amazing!

If I had an hour; I too would settle for a nap!

This summer - my main goal is to get back to the RE and finalize a timeline for an FET. Waiting on a post LEEP pap and to get a few money ducks in a row since DH is now working a commission only job.

Home improvements - we need to do some windows and a door and have needed to for about two years. It's so expensive that it keeps getting pushed back. Ugh.

I enjoy gardening only when my plants thrive, which is about half the time!

Ugh? These are so hard to do on mobile! Let me try.

Drink = Mexican beer with salt and like on a patio. Mmm. Or a beer-garita (a real one, not the ones in a can.)

Day = Sleep in, brunch with mimosas and waffles, massage, mani/pedi, happy hour on a patio with my BFF, homemade dinner, and bed. Ahh.

Hour = A mimosa and a mani/pedi. (I swear I'm not an alcoholic, I just craved beer my whole pregnancy and am excited to get back on the train )

Summer = I'm cheating and saying 2 things. First of all, I want to do better at maternity leave than I did last time. E was such a hard baby, an I spent the entire 12 weeks on the couch nursing her or crying in the shower while she cried in her swing. I want to be able to do things this time. Which brings me to being able to lose some of this baby weight. I feel so soft and round and it is really upsetting me. (I know, I know, JUST had a baby. But still. I feel gross.)

Home = Probably nothing. We just bought an entire new kitchen of appliances since our dishwasher crapped out and there were good Memorial Day sales. So we will be paying on that for a while.

Gardening = I loved having a garden at our old house, but I don't feel like I have the time or energy to devote to it right now. Maybe next year.

What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink?  A margarita or a really good red sangria.

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do?  I would sleep in, past 7 would be glorious.  Then grab an iced coffee and head out for a pedicure.  After the pedicure, I would love a full body massage and then a nice long shower.  If someone else could do my hair, that would be great, too.  Then a stop by the outlets for some shopping for me, for once!  I would meet DH for dinner and drinks then home to sit out on the patio and not touch one dish.  Oh and to bed early!

How about one HOUR?  Have to agree with the nap.
What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer?  Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on?  These are kind of combined for me.  We started a playroom for DS and I really want to get that finished this summer.  I want to be able to get his ever growing pile of toys out of our great room and into it's own room.  We're getting there - it's painted (including a magnetic chalkboard wall!) and DH built a fabulous built in desk/cabinet/shelving unit.  As soon as it's cleaned out, I can do the fun part of decorating and organizing.

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any?  I have a pretty brown thumb, but we still plant stuff every year!  I just put in a bunch of annuals along our walkway and filled our front porch planters.  DH might do a small garden this year, too.  I think DS would love to do that with his Dad.

  • My drink would be some flavored lemonade. Or, maybe a sonic beverage (they show the commercials here, but the closest one is over an hour away!!)

Day: Sleep until 8 and head to Starbucks for a coffee and good read. Shopping and lunch (maybe sushi or Mexican). Layout by the pool with a cocktail or maybe a movie by myself! Order in takeout, grab a glass of wine and rent a movie.

    HOUR? Sit outside and read

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer? Clean out the basement so we can make it a play area in the fall

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on? We just had our deck stained and painted. It was way more expensive than I'd hoped, but not so painful.

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any? I like it, but never seem to have the time! Also, I sort of hate sweating, so the weather has to be perfect!! Most of our landscaping is perennials and pretty low maintenance, but I've already done the pruning and planted some annuals in the planters. We need some more mulch, so we will have to do that soon.

  • What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink? Vanilla Cooler with 1/2 shot of raspberry at Caribou

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do? Sleep in, take a loooong uninterrupted shower, have a cinnamon rolls and coffee for breakfast, spend some time at the mall browsing and taking my time, get a mani/pedi, noodles mac & cheese for dinner along with some me time with ALL THE SHOWS I need to watch on Netflix.

How about one HOUR? For sure a nap!

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer? Just get through it all, I am taking 2 courses for pre-reqs for PA school, aiming for A's in both. I also will be working two jobs, and then at the end of it all have a newborn!

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on? Nope no $ for that kinda stuff right now.

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any? I would love to garden! We live in a townhouse in an association - so no garden creating for me. They hardly allow many potted things around either...I aspire to garden and have lots of fruits and veggies and pretty things some day when we have a house!

  • What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink?

    A really good shandy beer.

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do?

Um, mine is probably pretty pathetic but I'd watch trashy tv or maybe a classic movie followed by reading, napping and eating junky food.

    How about one HOUR?

Sleep or go sit in a coffee shop for an hour and read magazines.

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer?

Do our frozen embryo transfer and be happy with whatever the outcome.

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on?

Nope.  We need a new roof but there's no way we can afford it so maybe our project is keeping our fingers crossed.

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any?

I LOVE the idea of it and the buying of plants and veggies but it falls apart in the actual day to day gardening.  Luckily, my husband sort of takes over.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

    This Cluttered Life

  • What's been your "can't wait for summer" go to drink? Margaritas

If you had one day ALONE to pamper yourself, describe it to the last detail - what would you do? Brunch with a book, then lots of antiquing, then afternoon tea with a friend or two.

How about one HOUR? A massage.

What's one thing you hope to accomplish this summer? I need to finish sewing curtains for the boys' bedroom

Any fun/not so fun home improvement projects going on? We are doing a major exterior restoration on our house which includes new paint and lots of dry rot repair. We are currently staying with my mom for 10 days while the strippers remove the paint from 2 sides of the house. The whole project will take around 3 months.

Thoughts on gardening? Love it? Hate it? Planning on doing any? I like it, I'd like to learn more about it. We recently planted part of a native hedgerow along one side of our yard  to create some privacy and hopefully prevent little ones running right up to the edge and falling off the retaining wall.
