I just got an email from the daycare director that Hand Foot and Mouth disease has been going around the infant room this week with a few babies diagnosed.Do I still send LO.
If you can, keep LO home, but we've had HFM go through our family, and for us, it was more of an annoyance than a catastrophe. I wouldn't take off work to keep her out of day care.
My son got that from the gym a few years ago, took a couple days for the rash to appear. My dumb self thought it was chicken pox lol. Keep her home and push fluids cause if she does get it she may not want to eat
If it's just the one day, I would keep her home if possible. Yea, HFM can be mild but still better to avoid a sick baby regardless. I've had it as an adult, it sucks and is quite painful.
I'd keep LO home if you can. Both my older kids and my DH just had it because it was going around DS kindergarten class. They were miserable. It can be very painful. Fortunately the baby didn't get it but it's highly contagious.
If I wouldn't have a hard time finding care, I would consider keeping them home, but otherwise I wouldn't get TOO worried about sending them. DS1 had HFM, as did I, and it definitely bothered me more than him. But, it would be nice to avoid if possible!

I know I'm totally late to this thread and that you're already keeping LO home but just wanted to mention that it is contagious before symptoms show up so your LO may have already contracted it but since she was there a limited amount of time hopefully not. I think keeping her home was a great idea because the HFM that went around last fall was really awful!
Re: WWYD: sickness at daycare question
HFM is the worst. DD had it last summer and we unknowingly gave it to her whole class. By the time the fever sets in, you've already passed it along.
I can't imagine a baby having it. That sounds like a living hell. FX everyone stays healthy!
Mom to Lily and Colin!
