Pool Fun - Recommend your Flotation Device

Hello -

Yay! Summer is here!  We don't have a pool; however, a friend of ours has one and she invited us over for some summer fun in a few weeks.  DD has never been in anything but the tub lol.  Anyway, I'd love some rec's on what you've used for your LO's in the pool etc?  I've seen so many life vest, floaties, etc but just not sure what to get - especially since DD is petite (17.14lbs).  Please tell me why you love it and a link or pic would be great - TIA!

  • Thank you @allydncr‌ and @SpankingShank‌! I know I already said this in your other post but I'm loving the pic! She looks like such a big girl in the pool

  • I know none of the May mommas would do this but since this is a floatie thread I thought I'd send out a lil reminder.  Floaties are NOT a babysitter.  Please do not leave your kiddos alone with the floaties!
I say this because J and I went to the pool this last weekend and I saw so many parents turn their backs on their kiddos in life vests.  I've saved too many kids who've gotten stuck upside down with these things. It's my biggest peeve.
I'll be watching this thread for some good ideas! I can't wait for some serious water time with my baby!
  • I totes left Vi while I downed a margarita. Kidding. Dad was just out of the frame
OH NO! I wasn't implying that you were leaving your kiddo! You're obviously aware enough that if Vi tipped over, you would probably drop that camera to save her.  I'm talking about leaving your child alone in the floatie assuming that it'll save them.
  • We have a Disney Cars one that is okay. Honestly we didn't use it as much as the cheap ring floats from the dollar store.

  • @mishy2006‌ yeah I'm with you guys. I'll pass lol

  • We don't use floaties, we just carry him around and let him "swim." He doesn't like to not be in our arms. But I'm going to keep an eye on this thread for idea in case he decides he wants to be independent in a pool.

Have you guys seen the neck floatie things? I have heard they are safe but I can't get past the visual. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_D44Rpnmdk&sns=em
Didn't someone's doctor warn against using walkers because they couldn't see their legs? What about these things? I wonder what they do to their water awareness...
  • We got an older version of this, bc of older sister.image

Same as allydncr but with a canopy. It's awesome. Amazon has a huge variety of them.
Drys quickly too by the way.
