EBF trying to introduce bottle...

My LO is 5 weeks old and I've EBF with the exception of having DH give him a bottle a few times. I would like to give him one nightly since I will be going back to work and he will be getting bottles at daycare. DH tried last night at his last feeding before we tried to put him to bed and it made him super gassy and fussy. We use Playtex ventaire bottles and stopped to burp him every half ounce. It took forever to get him settled afterwards. Any suggestions for a smoother transition?

    I use the medela calma.. It makes LO have to use the same movement as he would on the breast to get the milk out

    I use Medela calma as well and she doesn't get very gassy

    Do you burp a lot more frequently with the bottle? DH said he feels the stopping and burping every 1/2 ounce also had him more stimulated as opposed to just the 1 time or so burping him during BF.

    I have been EBF until we started supplementing a couple days ago. We've been using Playtex nursers, gas doesn't seem to be an issue.

    We use the first years breastflow - DS gets a bottle every night from DH and have never noticed any issues.

    Just at the end. He doesn't really get any air cause he has to latch to the nipple to even get milk

    Thanks everyone for the info. I'll have to look into a different bottle. Maybe I will have him do an earlier feeding instead if the last before bed.

    We used a small Avent bottle that worked well. We also have the Medela ones that came with my pump, so we'll be trying those as well.

    We switched to the playtex nursers with the drop in liners and gas issues have stopped.

    I use tomee tippee as well. Aside from him getting the hang of using a bottle, they work great. And he isn't gassy
