Hi! New to post. I am 42 & dr wants to induce @ 39 weeks bc she says I have increased risk of stillborn bc of age. Also baby measuring 34 wks & I was 37 wks @ time of ultrasound. Nervous about induction. Wondering if anyone else had been told this??
Not exactly your situation, but similar. I hope to avoid any intervention, but I'm 41 and my doctor doesn't want me to go
past 41 weeks, citing my age. She actually had me schedule the
appointment yesterday for 40 weeks, 6 days. It really got me down.
I know that I have the right to push back, but I do trust my doctor and
I fear questioning myself if something goes awry.
Best of luck to you!

My situation wasn't exactly the same either, but instead of the VBAC I wanted at 41 weeks I had a repeat c-section on the advice of my trusted OB. It took quite a bit of time for me reconcile the decision, but in the end I feel like we made the best decision for our family. That is really all you can do. I've had friends induced for a variety of reasons and the majority of the inductions went off without a hitch. Good luck!

My Dr never brings up my age, sometimes I have to remind him I am 40 ( he always says I dont look it) guess that should be a compliment lol
I have not discussed with him the age due to my little one is breech and has been most of the pregnancy. I am going tomorrow for an appointment and we will schedule a c section at 39 weeks due to her bring breech, just had US last week to confirm. She might turn but I dont think so she does not move a lot and has always been.

My Dr. said they induce at 38 weeks bc of age, but she told me that before I got pregnant. Another dr. In the practice told me they could induce at 39 weeks, but more because both my other kids were very large and no gest diabetes. Recovery was tough with them.
My doctor said that they would do a planned c-section at 38-39 weeks due to age (I'll be 42). I was 39 at the last birth and was induced at 40 wks due to the baby stopping growing on perinatal tests. The baby was fine, just small. She's still small for her age but that's her phenotype and by no means abnormal.
I'm 40 and have not been approached about induction due to my age-to me-that's just just nuts. I will only agree to an induction due a real medical issue like unfavorable stress test, etc.
It sounds as though it varies from dr. to dr. or practice to practice. I just posted a similar question bc I was told today by OB that I would most likely be induced at 39 weeks due to age and it had to do with quality of placenta. I just find it so confusing that some doctors ride it out longer and others are more cautious. Not sure how I completely feel about it but I of course want to trust dr.'s expertise.
My doc won't induce me until 41 weeks. (I'm 40, for those on mobile.) Starting around 40 weeks I'll start going in for NSTs, though I'm thinking of asking to start those a bit earlier for peace of mind. I asked about why some docs insist on earlier inductions and she commented that they probably don't deal with many AMA pregnancies. I'm in NYC so AMA is common and not treated as a big deal.
