XP: Update on Cervix issues. (17w6d)
So I'm still pregnant! 41 days left until viability!
Thanks to everyone who replied to this post. I really appreciate your words of encouragement, thoughts, and advice.
Our scan today was much better! The cervix is 2.9cm and closed! Both babies are still doing great in there as well.
However, I am still on bedrest. We got more info about what the u/s report said on Friday today, and it was actually 1.9 cm, with a fairly decent amount of funnelling going on, and it was opening. I saw the pictures on the MFM's computer and they were actually pretty shocking. To make it more complicated, there is still, and was then, a fair amount of "debris" or sludge in my uterus that is settling on the cervix. This is actually the more concerning part right now, because the cervix alone makes us high-risk, but the debris makes it even moreso as it can irritate the uterus into preterm labour. And so we wait.....
My understanding is that the Dr suspects something else is going to happen, and we are being monitored with a cervical scan twice a week now to try to catch it before it becomes an issue. He said to us that "this isn't going to get better" - so in light of that I'm very grateful to have a care provider who is the twin expert in the country, and who is taking this very seriously to help us save the pregnancy. If the cervix shows signs of incompetence I will get a cerclage, if it doesn't - apparently a cerclage just risks irritating an already irritated uterus/cervix more.
Starting progesterone as well, suppositories twice a day. And am now officially working from home - not on strict bedrest, but certainly not up and about enough to go to work everyday. I, or someone else, will go in once or twice a week to pick up work and bring it home, plus to communicate with the office, and am otherwise working remotely. Had to give up a teaching contract I had in June (boo! There goes $6500), but oh well, these babies are way more important.

BFP - 6dp3dt via FRER, Beta #1 - 110, Beta #2 175, Beta #3 - 348, Beta #4 - 2222!, Beta #5 - 4255. Ultrasound (6w1d) - 2 heartbearts!
We lost our beautiful Twin baby girls on June 18, 2014. Tavin Sara and Casey Elizabeth were born at 21 weeks gestation and were absolutely beautiful, precious, amazing babies. We miss our daughters every day and love them with all our hearts.
