June 2014 Moms

Born to Run Junebugs

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

  • That sounds rough! @nicolewhelan‌ My runs: only ran once. 3 miles, it felt great. I went to the hotel gym and did elliptical and weights one day. Things were so stinking busy, I'm hoping for a slowish week. Today I was in hardcore nesting mode! My todo list is forever getting longer tho! First race: not sure probably a charity 5k in October. I'm really gonna try to go back slow so I know for sure my body is ready!!
  • @nicolewhelan that is my kind of workout!  nice job getting it done!  great week last week of working out, mixing running, lifting and yoga.

i worked out today at my bootcamp class which had a mix of burpees, running, lifting, squats.  unfortunately, i think i finally overdid it.  lots of pain after the workout so i think i have to finally scale back.  actually dh has cut me off from lifting now.  i will still try to run, walk and go to yoga but i will have to wait to lift again until cleared after baby boy arrives.  pretty proud to have lifted this far into my pregnancy though.

i will probably do a 10k in the fall and i will start running as soon as my doc gives me the ok!

  • My runs last week were good but infrequent. I got close to 4 miles in on Friday, and 5.2 on Memorial Day with my running group. Both runs felt great! I just wish I had more time during the week - things have been crazy and unfortunately my normal run time has been taking a hit from all the other commitments we have going on.

My first race post-baby will be the Trenton, NJ half marathon in November. My SIL and I will be running it together and I plan on taking it super easy as far as pace. I just want to get back on a training schedule and having a race to plan for makes me stick to it.

  • Great job everyone!

I've been out on one ten minute walk and that was too much so I'm just relaxing until I feel more ready to get out and walk more, hopefully next week.

I'm not sure what my running plans are, but I will pick a race to do and train for it.  I just kind of want to see how it goes first.  It will either be a fast 5k or a half.  I will get cleared to run on July 1 (2 days before my birthday -hooray!)  which seems like a really long time since I had such an easy delivery, but that's when my doc appt is.

    Hang in there ladies!

  • Wow, I'm impressed! At this point, 20 minute walks are for me, as well as prenatal yoga.

As far as after baby, I plan to start slow walking as soon as I feel ready. I'm not planning any races until a Christmas 5K. If I feel ready, I'll do one sooner, but setting reasonable goals, because who knows what will happen!

    Good luck ladies!
  • you guys are awesome! i have decided to stop the group bootcamp next week and replace it with one on one training because i am very competitive and hate to modify the workouts so much. this way, i can tailor the last workouts to be less burpees and more military presses! haha.

i hope to get back on the run as soon as i am cleared for duty. (ob says if another labor and delivery like dd, 4wks pp)
