My LO is 5.5 months old and I've been back to work since he was 11 weeks. I've managed to consistently pump 3x day (with just a few days where I've only managed 2 pump sessions). However, this is starting to take a toll and I'm considering cutting back to only pumping twice per day. I'm SO busy at work and it's less and less feasible to take time out of my day to pump once in the morning and twice in the afternoon.
I'm OK with supplementing with formula (and have done so in the past for various reasons). My questions is: Do you think my milk supply will stay strong for the evening and night time feedings if I eliminate this one day time pumping session? I don't want it to negatively impact my LO's nursing.
Also - what about weekends when I'm home with baby and able to nurse him for that extra day time feeding? I'm guessing I may struggle to produce enough milk for one of those feedings and may need to supplement with a bottle of formula?
Re: Eliminating a Pumping Session
My original goal was to breastfeed at least until I went back to work. Then I set a goal of 4 months, which then turned into BFing until we got home from a recent international trip. So....I feel good at what I've accomplished and will continue to focus on that.
