My DH and I both were really close to our grandmothers and wanted to honor them by using their names if this baby is a girl. However we also are really fond of the name Harper for a girl, so I thought of combining the names together for the middle name. My grandmothers name was Evelyn and his grandmother was Elaine. So I came up with Evelaine. Harper Evelaine. DH doesn't seem completely on board and his mother really doesn't like it, but I think it could be pretty and unique, beside it's only for the middle name. Any thoughts?
Re: Combining grandmothers names together?
Smoosh names are really nms. What about two middle names or using a totally separate E name to just reuse the initial. Some cultures feel that's the best way to honor someone.
On a side note, I like Evelyn Elaine much better than Harper <Anything>...so maybe my taste in names is just too far off of yours to be useful.
But your H doesn't like it. It's not so beautiful or so clever that you are going to win him over. Just pick one and save the other.

Evelyn Elaine is gorgeous! Maybe he will come around? Sell him on the NN Evie, maybe?

In the Twilight books, the demon baby's name is Renesmee after her grandmothers, Renee and Esme. This sort of "smoosh" name is widely regarded as juvenile and in poor taste.
