SPAC family section...

Earlier in the year I had inquired about concerts. I believe @phishgirl29‌ and someone else mentioned a family section at SPAC. Just looking for a bit more info :) Heading with J to DMB on Saturday for his first concert outside the belly. It's an acoustic and electric set. Excited! Tia!!!

Re: SPAC family section...

  • I'll be there in July seeing phish with the baby so I'm no help as of now. It was @notquiteblushing‌ who has experience there. From what I hear, it's far back enough that the kids don't even need to wear ear protection, but I plan on bringing it anyway. I'm not sure what else you can bring in but I'm sure a state trooper would love to tell you NO at the gate! Have fun!

I'm a member of Facebook group for fans with kids. Maybe DMB has a similar group?

Thank you so much! We will have ear protection for him...been practicing wearing them :) I'm planning on bringing simple stuff (like snacks: mums, blueberries, sip cup) in a gallon zip lock ala airport security. An ergo and a wrap... Possibly a small blanket. Fingers crossed! I'll let you know how tight security was. We may be heading to see phish as well! Residual perk from working at a radio station years ago. Depends on how he does and a possible cousins birthday party. Fx for phish over party... Hm did I say that outloud ;)

    Thanks again!
  • I've been to SPAC pregnant to see Phish and I remember at the time thinking there was no way I could bring a baby because of the amount iof smoke, but I'm guessing (hoping) the family section is far back enough that that wouldn't be an issue. If it was further back than I was on the lawn you definitely wouldn't need ear protection as it wasn't loud at all right on the edge of the pavilion.
I would bring as much sealed water as you can because it's stupid expensive there. And while you're at it sneak in White Russians for yourselves in bottles- these babies have to be good for something with all this gear, right? They won't ever question a white substance in a baby bottle (if you have a baby!)

  • Good thinking @calikat80!  I actually hate SPAC and want the whole venue to be redone, but I'm very grateful for the family section now.  I saw it two summers ago but haven't utilized it yet.  I've very excited to see how it is (smoke wise) but most parents have been respectful there (so I'm told).

  • Also I'd suggest a hiking backpack instead of a wrap if you have one. Depending on your baby's curiosity, G needed to be up and looking out from an early age so it's better for viewing. Also ours stands upright so you can use it as a little chair for eating and containing them on the ground too.

Great idea @calikat80‌ ! Lots of great ideas :) I too was concerned about the smoke, but I'm hoping the family section is all it's cracked up to be. I've talked with a few mommas and they seem to think it'll be ok. It's just the walk through to get to it. I wish we had a hiking pack but the ergo and a high back carry will have to suffice. He's usually pretty content when worn BUT then again... He's never been to anything like this!

@phishgirl29‌ I totally agree with the redoing of SPAC. Seen so many shows there and while in the pavilion is awesome the lawn leaves something to be desired... Although I can dance it out anywhere ;) And omg what a cutie in his banz!

Thank you ladies so much. I'm nervous but equally excited! Worst case, we leave and walk the park. Weather is supposed to be decent!
