PP mamas: Swelling

I am having tons of swelling this time around and I am 5 days PP. Other May mamas who had swelling after delivery, how long did it take to go away?

Last pregnancy, it tooka good two weeks for the swelling to subside. I still have some swelling now at 8 days post partum.

Baby BOY is due May 23, 2014!

  • My feet and ankles were crazy swollen from 3-5 days, almost to the point of pain. They were pretty much normal
    today.

Definitely thought we were talking about swollen lady bits! Haha, I was swollen down there for about a week. But other swelling: still can't wear anything but flip flops and my wedding rings still don't fit either and I'm 25 days PP. :(

  • I'm 5w pp and still very swollen. Not as much as when I was in the hospital (I could hardly walk my legs and feet felt like they would pop if I put weight on them), but still too swollen to wear real shoes.

It was a good week before my feet started to go down and probably 10 days before I felt normal again. However, I just read online it takes up to 2 weeks but past that you should consult a physician.
  • I'm still a bit swollen, but it's getting better. I just keep pounding water. Not sure what else I can do.

  • @cbrust‌ it kinda makes me feel better I'm not the only one who still can't wear their wedding rings. I had swelling in my feet and ankles for about a week after and it seems to have gone down a lot. But I think I still have some. My hands don't look or feel swollen but I still can't get my rings on.. I'm hoping within a month I can.

OMG, I was so ridiculously swollen this time AFTER my csection.  It actually frightened me.  I NEVER thought that I would see my ankles again.  At about 8-9 days it subsided.  My belly is still swollen and my hands are still a little off (I am 19 days PP)...but it is SOOO much better.

PS @jsaffer01, I am also unable to get my rings on.  Took me about a month last pregnancy.

I was SO swollen. My feet and legs weren't back to normal for a full two weeks.
  • I was so swollen after CS I could hardly walk even days later. I kept drinking water, walking, and elevating and nothing was helping. After a week everyday it would get a tiny bit better, but I was still miserable. I just kind of gave up at that point and figured I would have tree trunk feet forever. Then one day it literally just came off in a few hours.. About day 9 or 10 PP. Now my feet look so skinny and flat to me.. Almost deflated. Lol
  • I'm 12 days pp and after 3 nights of terrible night sweats I'm almost back to normal! Well, I can see my ankles again, anyway. It takes a while! Just drink a ton of water.

  • 2 weeks pp today and still really swollen. Compression socks have helped but it's pretty bad. I was told to give it 1 more week before the dr. worries.
  • I had swollen feet, hands and ankles for about 3-5 days. My fingers are still a little swollen, but feet and ankles seem to be back to normal.

  • Thanks ladies. I am on day 6 and still no sign of swelling going down but I know most doctors say to at least give it a couple weeks. I think the night sweats are starting for me so maybe in a few more days things will start to change.
