Grade 3 placenta at 37wks??

First time mom at 37 yrs old. I've been blessed that all has gone as planned so far. Been going for a weekly ultrasound & nst twice a week since wk 33. Dr informed me at today's appointment that my placenta is a grade 3? It freaked me out & I didn't ask many questions. I'll be back in his office on Thursday & he didn't seem too concerned. Just told me to keep doing my kick counts. I'm finding myself obsessing about movement & keep thinking I just want this little joker out now while I know all is well. Anyone hv experience with this? Words of wisdom? Is there anything i should be doing so slow the process? Anything I should avoid? I guess I'm just hoping for some selfish reassurance....thanks in advance

  • Second hand smoke .
  • Smoking can be the cause for a higher grade placenta, second hand or if you are a smoker.

I've had calcifications in my placenta for awhile now, and am not worried.  If they are worried, they can do a cord Doppler U/S to make sure there is good blood flow in the cord from placenta to baby.  Grade 3 is just what the placenta is suppose to look like at the end of term.  If they're not worried, don't worry!
