DS has a really bad case of eczema on his scalp. He scratches at it in bed, and I think he keeps himself awake because of it. I've switched up shampoo (California baby and Mustela) and tried coconut oil. The pediatrician recommended that I put hydrocortisone on his scalp, which is easier said than done because he has a lot of hair. Most recently the ped suggested regular Head & Shoulders shampoo 2x a week, but there still isn't much improvement.
Any suggestions to keep LO from constantly clawing at his noggin?

He's also figured out how to remove hats (and mittens/socks on his hands). Since he just recently had an ear infection, I'd be hesitant to put anything damp on his head while he slept. And he wiggles enough in bed that they just fall off anyway.

I have had a lot of success with bagbalm; it locks in the moisture. But it will be super messy with all that hair. It works great, though.
Also try some breast milk. DD had a rash last week and the ped said it was either eczema or contact dermatitis. I put breast milk on it for a few days and it completely cleared up.
What if you put your socks on his hands and up to his armpits and then put his pj's on? That way he can't pull them off.

If I had before/after pics I would show you. LO had the WORST eczema on his scalp and he scratched it to the point where it would weep and bleed. Bagbalm was the only thing that quelled the itching so he could sleep.
And hats.
