Diaper question for big baby mama's

LO is a whopping 21 lbs and we are currently wearing size 4 pampers cruisers. I'm thinking its time to up the size again because we keep having poop blow outs. But I'm also worried we are running out of sizes! Where are you all on diaper size/brand? And anyone else worried they will need custom diapers for our huge babes? haha.

Re: Diaper question for big baby mama's

  • Another 21 pounder, she's in 4's pretty comfortably for right now. My DD1 was in 5's when she was potty training at 2 & 1/2, I have been wondering what size DD2 will be in by the time we PT. I remember DD1 being in 4's and then 5's for a really long time.

  • We just moved up to 4's this weekend and my dude is 100th percentile. No poop problems unless it happens in the car seat.
  • Honestly your lo will start gaining weight more slowly. Ds2 is 22lbs and in size 4 diapers. My oldest who is 21 months is also in size 4 diapers. Ds1 was on 3s for quite some time. My boys are in pampers dry diapers. They fit nicely and are more absorbant than the cruisers in my opinion. We tried the cruisers but felt dissapointed with them. I wouldn't worry too much about the size, maybe try a different kind, they all fit a little differently

We're also in 4 ATM. The Dude seems to do best with Luvs. The weight range is 22-37 pounds so he'll be in these for a long time. It's usually about 2 or 3 pounds away from the upper limit when we start seeing blowouts and leaks so I know it's time to move to the larger size.
  • Thanks ladies. I was thinking it was a little too soon to change sizes. Daycare suggested it, but now that I think about it the blowouts are usually we he is laying or sitting and it goes up his back, so I think it's luck of positioning.

Target brand and Honest Co. diapers also seem to run bigger if the next size seems too big.  We mostly cloth, but use disposables on-the-go.  N is 20 pounds and we just finished up a small pack of Pampers 3s which seemed to be getting small, but Target and Honest Co. 3s still fit really well.

  • We're in Pampers Swaddlers size 3, but he's peeing out if them every night. I plan to pick up some 4's tomorrow night.

We CD but I'm having similar concerns! I use these one size covers that are supposed to go up to 35 lbs. but there are days when I wonder if they will make it to toddlerhood! I agree with one of the PP, I've also heard that after the 6 month GS, they are supposed to slow down a bit while they develop their moving skills. For pooplosions I might suggest a CD diaper cover (to wear over the disposable). They keep the poop in really well and would help reduce clothing changes throughout the day. Just a thought. GL ladies!

  • Target size 3 goes up to 28 pounds. My nineteen pound sweet boy still has plenty of room in these.
  • We are size 4 Walmart/Kroger and pampers baby dry.... We have had blow out problems since he was born so I just deal with it. But I believe he will start to stretch out and slow down growing so I am not worried about it. We find out later today how much he weighs.

DS is in size 3's.  We use the Huggies overnights and they seem to work really well.   During the day we use the Honest brand and he's still in size 2's for that, but moving up to size 3's.  He was 19 lbs at his most recent visit.

As for running out of sizes, I know that DD (now 4) was pretty chubby as a baby, but once she was up and walking, she slimmed down a lot.
