Routine c/s advice?

Hi ladies - I have posted here a couple of times in the past but nothing regularly.
My DS will be 14 months next week and I had him via emergency c/s after about 12 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing -- he was stuck!
I had a mostly-great experience and recovered very easily and quickly and DS is happy and healthy and so am I.

I am not a candidate for a VBAC for a few reasons, which is totally fine with me, so I'm gearing up for a routine / repeat c/s in early September.

Just wondering if anybody has any advice for how to get ready for a routine C/S or things to think about??  With the emergency c/s it happened so fast that I didn't have time or opportunity to think or worry or anything so now I'm moving into planner mode and trying to get ducks in a row prior to the big day.

Thanks!

I found that the emergency C was less stressful in some ways because #1 I was wheeled into surgery vs walking into surgery. This made a huge difference for me because I could see everything as I walked in and see all the dr.s etc.  #2 it happened so fast like you said I didn't have time to get worked up and stop and think vs over thinking the whole time and becoming really overwhelmed.  I ended up having anti-anxiety meds during the my second surgery because my heart rate was increasing and I just couldnt calm down.  My recoveries were easy but I would say with a toddler at home (DS was 17 months) my recovery took a lot longer mostly because you just dont have the luxury of laying down and taking it easy and just watching an infant.  GL!

I had an emergency c with my first and a planned c with my second. Try to get extra help with the older child for a couple weeks if you can. Organize some take out menus and freeze some meals. Get some comfy yoga pants for the hospital (no vag checks means you get to wear pants). Really, I didn't find planning for my second c any different from planning for my first.

    Scheduled is way easier :)

Start taking Colase the week before.

It was so low stress for me. The only thing I thought was a little more scary was the epidural because the first one I was in pain so I don't recall the feeling of things going to sleep. The second one obviously I wasn't in labor yet so I had to "feel" it go numb.
The pinch was no big deal but I didn't much like the feeling as it creeped up. They were really good about giving me oxygen and relaxing me.

But it was just nicer knowing date and relative time of delivery. Just walk as soon as they will let you and I "ice" my girl bits because they tend to swell after. I guess most people who get sections don't get this side effect and it took me a few days to figure out ice works
