I have heard that a lot of people use California Baby sunscreen on their babies. If it's safe for baby it's probably safe for pregnant moms. You can also check out the EWGs guide to safer sunscreens here.
Personally, I do not use bug spray at all because of the chemicals. You could try one of those fan things, I don't think they get bug spray on your skin.
Lurking from IF as I'm too nervous to introduce on this board till after our u/s next week . . . I actually just did a good amount of research on using bug spray and sunscreen. As far as bug spray goes most info says it's better to use sprays with no or low amounts of DEET. For sunscreen I didn't find any research that mentioned it shouldn't be used. Some research says that physical blocks containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are the safest to use b/c the ingredients aren't absorbed into the skin.
Me 30 mild PCOS w/o insulin resistance
DH 32 low count & motility after vasectomy reversal
Married 10/2007
TTC since 2013
IVF#1: Jan 2014 - Lupron trigger - due to high risk of severe OHSS; E2 at trigger - 6984
ER - 1/28 35 retrieved, 22 mature, 14 fertilized (ICSI)
ET - 2/2 cancelled due to mild OHSS
6 blasts frozen
I have used it since moving to Austin (bug-central!) in 2009. I was skeptical at first, but was at little nervous that the deet sprays were making my nail polish melt, that really made me look for an alternative.
Anyway, I just put it in a spray bottle or put a little in my palm and rub on my exposed skin and it works like a charm. And the bugs love me otherwise.

I try to stick to titanium/zinc sunscreens. Cerave just started making sunscreens like that and they're a really good brand. The Neutrogena baby ones are good too.
The Honest Company also has a DEET-free bug spray and a zinc oxide sunscreen. I've also used a lavender oil-based DIY bug spray that worked well. You can google for recipes.
