Soooo, most of you know I'm in the froyo industry. I'm bored with our flavors and toppings. What are your faves? Any toppings you HAVE to have when you get froyo? Anything cool and interesting you've seen lately?
All I have to say about froyo is that I'm mad at it right now. On Sunday we went for a long, HARD, hot hike in the mountains and when we got back to town DH was all "we should get froyo!"...yes, yes we should!! Except every freaking froyo place in this town was closed because it was a Sunday. WTF. We had to settle for Sonic ice cream instead. So not the same.

All our froyo places are closing sad face. We have one left but its small so we hardly go bc theres no where to sit with the kiddos. I usually get a little froyo and tons of toppings - wish they had junior mints - those are my fave
@MissDemeanor That's a good, logical point. Except I have to actively try to not hate this place because I don't want to be miserable. So I push the blame off on others
To answer your question @Codypup, I'm boring and love fruit. So my favorites are like cheesecake+strawberries or lime+raspberries, etc. I did have swiss chocolate with hot fudge sauce and marshmallow swirl once, though, and that was awesome.

These little ball things flavors like mango and strawberry... I have no idea what they are actually called but they pop when u bit into them. I LOVE them on my California tart flavored froyo. Also fresh fruit is great. I wish more places had bananas and such
I had watermelon froyo (the little sample size), and it was delish and sooo refreshing. I'm contemplating packing LO up to go get some. I didn't buy that flavor because they also had peanut butter, which was amazing.
I had dark chocolate raspberry truffle cups on top. Also delicious. I could eat a whole bowl. I'd love to have had a better variety of nuts. Also would have been interested in some sort of fruit topping -- like strawberry sauce.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but the froyo industry is actually really suffering. Too much supply, not enough demand. Everyone and their mother decided to open a store when the boom hit 5 years ago, and now there just isn't enough business to keep them open. It actually costs WAY MORE to run a froyo store than people realize, and if they don't know how to manage it properly, it's super easy to bankrupt yourself.
I've gotten to do some cool turn-around projects where I go into failing stores and help them fix their shit.
Mmmmm froyo. The froyo place near our house has these red squishy popper things I like to put on. I don't know what they are, except delicious. Then I like to pile on all the strawberries, kiwis, gummy bears and sour worms.

Boba balls!
If I have explain to one more person that no, they're not fish eggs, I'm going to throw the entire bucket at the person's head.

I've been sitting here trying to think of something fabulous but I can't. All it has done is make me want the delicious oreo flavored yogurt at a place that I've been going to since I was little. I do like the rice crispy treat idea though.

@Codypup I would LOVE to be in your store, but unless you're the Buffalo TCBY, no, I am not.
(P.S. per your comment in the random thread, I would know you're back there pumping, and I'd just wait patiently and you could come out when you're done.)
I'm not a big fan of crunchy things in my froyo or ice cream. I prefer smooth like chocolate syrup. Having different flavored syrups would be inetresting to me.
@disneypeanut - we have a millions sauces. Raspberry, strawberry, peanut butter, marshmallow, kiwi, mango, Maple syrup, hot fudge, caramel, siracha (sp?) sauce...you name it. I'm surprised your place doesn't! You should yell at them.
We also have bacon bits. Weird, but people love it.
I usually stick with strawberries, kiwi, caramel filled chocolate (ours are turtles), chocolate syrup. Occasionally that will change if i try a new flavor, but that's my norm.

Macaroon flavored or crushed as a topping? Macarons would be cool too but probably too pricey.
@iwubrory - probably on the pricier side. Ideally, all my toppings need to be less than .24c per ounce in order for us to make a profit. Stuff like nuts and fruit kill me, so I have to watch what I spend on everything else.
I love going to Yogurtland! I like fruit toppings, especially lychee. I like mochi and the boba too. I love candy toppings like Kit Kat, Heath bar, crushed Reese's peanut butter cups, and Twix. I also like all kinds of nuts, especially sliced almonds & hazelnuts. Other toppings I like are crushed Oreos, brownie pieces, cheesecake, and granola.
Did you catch that I mentioned two different cookies there? Macaroons are cheap but I don't know if people love them like I do. I think they're made with coconut. Macarons are the sandwich type that have the fillings in the middle.
I would also like a two-section bowl. Sometimes I can't decide between two flavor/topping combos but I don't want them to mix in my bowl. Having a divided bowl would allow me to have both and might end up being a heavier bowl because two kinds of toppings.
OMG genius. I guarantee I would have a heavier bowl if I could have two sides
Yes, the boba bean things - I just don't get it. What are they even made out of?? My kids love it of course... and we'll probably be going tonight now after reading this thread!!!

My fro-yo place has chocolate chip cookie dough- not the hard bites, but gooey dough like the kind you scoop into cookies. Not sure how they make it egg-free but it is amazing. I usually take more of that than frozen yogurt!
I like a mixture of sweet/salty sometimes. Not sure if your place does it, but I like chocolate sauce, peanut butter and crushed pretzels, or sometimes strawberries/crushed pretzels when I am in the mood for it.

omg my stomach is growling now! Our local froyo place is ok but I don't like the flavors they put together for swirls. They never seem like good combos so then I end up getting two flavors from different levers and end up with too much in my bowl.
I love the recipe idea. I never know what to get and end up with really weird combos.
Sorry I feel like I'm just rambling and not being very helpful...

Is this possible?
@iwubrory mind twins!! I was thinking the same thing!
We usually get our fro yo to go to eat at home, and DH sometimes has trouble putting a lid on his because it is too full.

I wonder if the froyo place still makes them. But it's in the opposite direction of the watermelon froyo I already said I wanted.
