Should I Make an Appointment? ($5.99)

So something is up with the dude and I'm not sure what and if I should take him in to the doctors. The last two nights have been really rough in terms of sleeping, and he was super fussy all day yesterday (really rare for him). All last night he felt really warm, but he never registered a temperature. I should note I don't have a lot of faith in my temperature-taking abilities. He's been tugging on both ears since yesterday. Then this morning he woke up and one eye was so puffy it was almost swollen shut. It has since cleared up a little, but its still puffy and purple. The other eye is a little puffy, looking just tired. It wasn't like this last night when I put him down to sleep, just this morning when he woke up. I suppose he could've bumped it in his crib at night, but combined with everything else I'm a little nervous. Oh and he's been super drooly like maybe he's cutting another tooth, which could explain everything else except the eye.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions or advice? He is with my mom now and she happens to be taking my sister to the doctor and will ask their opinion on whether we should make an appointment or not, but I'm leaning toward doing that. If this is normal though I don't want to go in unnecessarily. TIA!

  • Go in. Ear infection is my bet. Or just sinus pressure from allergies. But if it's infection you'll want to take care of it.

  • I'd take him in. Hope he's ok!
  • Poor stinker! Feel better!
  • Thanks all. I think I'll do that.

Thanks guys. The doctor my mom had my sister at checked his ear and said it was clear. She said if a fever spikes, then to take him in. We went ahead and called anyway, the soonest they can get him in is tomorrow at noon. The other option is urgent care. We're gonna plan on taking him in tomorrow (unless is clears up entirely), unless his eye gets worse or he develops a fever. In that case we'll take him to urgent care. Either way we're definitely skipping swim class tonight! Thanks everyone for the input, you confirmed the feeling I was having.

  • A week ago, my LO was suuuuuper cranky for a few days... Had a low grade fever one evening of 100... Kept tugging on his ears for days. We thought it was either an ear infection or teething... Then one day, he got a rash on his neck and back so we decided to take him in. Turned out to be "roseola". It's basically a virus that starts off with a high fever (which he didn't really have) and ends with a rash. I also read online that they could have swollen eyelids (which LO didn't have). The rash lasted 2 days and he's all happy once again. So maybe it's something similar? Keep an eye out for a rash JUST in case. Hopefully it's nothing!!!
