Name opinion

I keep seeing these name threads popping up and while we're not sharing with friends and family yet I'm curious to know others'opinio s. We are having a girl and we were going to go for a flower name to keep with the theme we have for our two girls (Violet and Lilia) bit can't seem to agree on one. We did like Ruby but MIL shot that one down. Now we all (dh, all 3 kids and me) agree that the name Aria is nice. It was on the short list when I was pg with our 7 year old and we are revisiting it. I think it is feminine and I like how it is an Italian name/word (Italian last name) but 1. Wonder if this baby will feel left out because she doesn't have a flower name, 2. Feel it is kind of plain?, and 3. Wonder if it is too close to Arya. A character in the book/show A Game of Thrones...any opinions? Thanks!

Should mention that we are huge fans of the GoT show but thought of the name Aria years before the show came out (or read the the books)

I love the name Aria. It's on our list too! I don't get the Game of Thrones thing and even if people did she's an awesome character in that book/show. I dont think it matters that's it's not flower themed like the other girls.

Thanks. I do feel better that it is spelled different and pronounced slightly different from Arya, but wasn't sure if it would still be weird. I do love the character too. We did think of and liked Dahlia but couldn't get past the Black Dahlia thing, lol. Thanks for the suggestion though!

When I see your other girls' names I really don't think "flower" right away, so I don't think using Aria would make her seem like the odd ball. I think it flows well with the other two. I haven't seen Game of Thrones so I wouldn't associate it with that. If you do stick with flower names I think Poppy is cute.

One of my closest friends has a little girl named Aria. I love it. It took a while to grow on me but now I just smile when I hear/see it.

Also, FWIW, I didn't get the flower reference right away with Lilia so I don't think it will be a big deal about the flower thing.

I love the name Aria but are you ok with it rhyming with Lilia? It sounds too matchy to me but I do like both names individually.

Aria is very pretty, and I don't think your DD would feel "left out" of the flower name theme at all.

If you want to stick with the flower theme, though, here are some pretty ideas (that I'm sure you've already seen, lol):

Aria is super popular now due to Pretty Little Liars, I know of three little girls that have been named that in the last year.

I realize that you liked it before it blew up but just wanted to let you know that it is getting as popular as Sophia where I live.

I do think it is pretty and I don't think the flower theme is super noticeable so she won't feel left out.

I think Aria is really pretty, and it goes well with your girls' names, even if it's not a flower theme.

I have a friend whose daughter is named Althea, which is the Latin name for hibiscus. If you are really set on keeping with the flower theme, maybe also consider some of the Latin names for some flowers, a lot are really pretty.

I really like Aria, but I personally wouldn't use it because it seems very popular right now. But if that doesn't bother you, I say go for it! It's a beautiful name. For other flower names, I like Poppy, Linnaea, and Rose. Good luck!

I know the name Aria from Pretty Little Liars and we have it on our list if this baby is another girl. Its a really pretty name.

I also love the suggestion of Poppy. My auntie was going to name her daughter Lily or Poppy depending on what she looked like, Lily if she was blonde/fair or Poppy if she was brunette/dark. She ended up being a Lily.

Other flower names that are a little more uncommon that I saw get suggested on the BNB:
Magnolia
Azalea
Zinnia

I actually have considered using a flower middle name to kind of bring it all together...Aria Rose maybe? I don't know though..now that I'm seeing all the Pretty Little Liars comments I'm wondering if it will be too popular. Anyway, thanks again everyone! Just wish there was a name that jumped out at me. It's such a big responsibility choosing the name for someone to answer to her whole life and I just want to be in love with it!
