Breaking point .....

I am 37 weeks and I know I should be thrilled that I am still cooking these babies to a nice healthy size, but I just don't think I can do it any more! My body hurts all over! My hands and feet are totally numb. I have painful trigger fingers. Worst of all is a huge sack of swelling that has developed under my belly; The pain and itch are unbearable! Sorry to be complaining, but I just can't do this anymore! Next week is my last week of work and my c section is scheduled for June 5.

Re: Breaking point .....

  • I'd just like to say that you are awesome. 37 weeks and still working! I know this doesn't help at all but I just wanted you to know how great that is. Complain all you want! The home stretch sucks and I only made it to 36 weeks. Chances are on your side that you won't actually make it to your c section date. Do baths help you at all? Maybe a swim could help? I hope you can find some relief soon!

Yes, congrats on a. making it this far and b. still working!  I feel for you...I made it to 38 weeks and those last two weeks were ROUGH!  There was just no getting comfortable.  I don't really have any advice just know that you are not alone.

Complain all you want! This shizz is hard. I'll be 37 weeks on Wednesday and no position is comfortable. And I understand that pang of guilt for complaining, because I also feel really lucky for keeping them in for so long.

When my boss asked how I was feeling the other day, I mentioned how sore and uncomfortable I was. She said, "Oh yeah, by the end my back was killing me" (singleton). I left it at that, but I just wanted to be like, no no no, it's ev.ery.thing. I had no idea how different it would be from the first, and how extended and all consuming the discomfort would be.

    Hang in there!

  • You're doing great! The end is almost here and you'll have your babies in your arms before you know it. I'm in awe of you still working. I made it to 37 weeks 4 days before my water broke about 28 hours before my scheduled inducement and I stopped working at 33 weeks. Hang in there and complain all you want because you areddoing an amazing job.

  • I was induced at 38 and so so looked forward to it, but now I wish I would have waited longer for them to come on their own.

You're doing great!!! So very lucky to still have inside babies :)

  • You are doing an awesome job and your babies are super lucky!! Less than two weeks and you will have your munchkins in your arms. Hang in there and try to enjoy some r&r! You should feel awesome that you are having such a great (albeit sore, painful, etc.) pregnancy. It will all be over soon!!! The end result is so worth it :-)

  • Ugh, this post scares me a little.  I'm just over 32 weeks and feel like some new symptom pops up every week or so.  Right now I have bad carpel tunnel (totally numb hands but no trigger fingers yet), my feet and ankles are painfully swollen, and a little over a week ago, sciatica popped up.  I'm scared of what's next!

You are so close though and doing a great job!

Wow, you are amazing.  I am 35 and a half weeks, and I feel SO done.  I don't work outside the home, but I am a SAHM to two littles, and I feel like I can hardly spend any time alone with them without just laying on the couch or the bed.  Being on my feet hurts all the time.  I am amazed you are still working!  My practice likes to get twins out before 38 weeks, so my c-section is scheduled for June 5 as well, and I will be 37.1.   I have a growth scan on Tuesday (I will be 35.6) and I am already (selfishly) wishing that they will tell me I should just have them then.  Of course I want everyone to be as healthy as possible, and I would rather continue this misery of the 9th month than have something go wrong, but I would be lying to say that my selfish side does not hope they come out pretty much any day now!

I second going for a swim, the water really helps take the pressure off of your joints and muscles. When I was pregnant w Ds1 and 2 in the summer, I LIVED at the pool. Really missed that with this last pregnancy being a winter pregnancy.
